Severe weather batters USA: Death count rises in Texas; tornado touchdowns near Pittsburgh

A lot of windows in downtown HOUSTON, has been literally torn out of there braces
from the hurricane force winds that came thru, early Friday morning. It resembled what a calamity would look like after a bomb went off, or hurricane. The weather folks are say that these were" Derecho" winds. They are named that because they only appear in straight line winds, & in this case, those were a part of the storm that traveled over 1000 miles even thru Florida, & it was stated that the wind force that hit Houston, was in excess of 100 M.P.H. cleanup continues, & will for awhile, we will be ok.

Amn Roger Omberg It surprised our weather folks as well. Usually storms like that lose their punch as they travel across the Gulf, but this one didn't. Nothing like Houston, but we had some severe weather north of my area Friday morning.

Yes, Sir, it does prove beyond any doubt, that our CREATOR reigns supreme. this particular storm had a different force to it than most normal storms, in that the straight line winds of over 100 mph which are rare, had enough punch to travel full force to the Atlantic ocean, Wow. I remember when I was stationed on a mountain top in Burns Oregon at this particular radar site, back in 1961=62, We had ballon covering our radar antenna's, of which only one was search, the others were height finders, & We had a storm blow thru & our site had auxiliary power for many days, to feed the site. The temps were 30 degrees below zero, & the winds were in excess of 130 mph, although, it was very dry, the snow felt like bullets hitting the face, I went on duty one day with my Air Force Parka, on over my t shirt, & held onto the steel rail o/s our barracks, just get into our login station. This is the first storm that I have seen since then with that much punch!
Sorry to go on but i just happened to remember that storm.
