I have posted a link to a short Science Video about Jupiter being a Liquid Metal giant. And man oh man, talk about serendipity. So remember when the comet Shoemaker Levy hit Jupiter? Well we couldn't see it, since it was smashing into Jupiter on the far side of Jupiter. The side we can't see. Ah, but wait. Voyager was passing by...so the Nerds got it to take some photos. Not its primary mission...but heck why not grab a few shots on the way by.
And those shot revealed that something was up. The Impact, stronger than 200 thousand Atomic Bombs, threw debris way up into space. But that debris wasn't what Scientist expected. So off went Galileo with its probe that would go as deep as it could before being crushed by the immense pressure.
And man that gave the Nerds a ton of data. So, like many others, I had to unlearn what we thought we know about Gas Giants. The Nerds found out is mostly liquid Hydrogen in several exotic forms...mostly Liquid Metal states. and so we learn and unlearn at the same time. Below is the link.
