A weird thought about Football. Our heavyweight in High School, was also a Star Football Player who weighed in at 245 pounds. He was also a super student. Physics was his favorite subject. I weighed in at a svelte 119 pounds. So one day I asked him what the difference was between weight and mass.
So he promptly spun me in the air, slammed me into the ground and got on top of me. I couldn't move a muscle. He smothered me with his body.
"Kevin the reason you can't breathe is gravity is pulling me down on your lungs. The reason you can't get up, is my mass is too much for you to move. The first is weight, the second is mass. "
And so I got a simple direct explanation and the experience to match.

SSgt (Join to see) - I was four foot eleven. I had to get a waiver to join the Army in 1969...and in Basic and AIT, I shot up to five foot six. But I was a heck of a ball handler/ passer...so shooters always picked me. My AAU and CYO teams both won Championships. I got a slew of trophies for Basketball, Swimming and X Country...but alas, none in Wrestling. But never got to play in HS, but did make the Platoon, Company, and Battalion Basketball Teams in the Army. And I was still the smallest guy on the Team. LOL

A friend of mine was also a wrestler and track/cross country and he was also hiking in the Rockies. Well, he had a heart attack and died. He was in great shape. Ironically dying from heart issues. I had a stent over two years ago. Strange! SGT Kevin Hughes

SSgt (Join to see) - I know when Jim Fixx died, at only 52, and he had run a gazillion miles and never had an ounce of fat on him, it caught me off guard. But then I found out that he lived a decade longer than any other male relative in his family. So all the exercise gave him a 25% longer life span, even tho he died young. I hope your stent is holding up well. My brothers both have them...so far, have been very lucky.

Nope. Learned my lesson! And my favorite Basketball Compliment came from an old High school Buddy who I told to watch Caitlin Clark the BB phenom from Iowa when she played her Rookie Year in the WNBA. My friend wrote me this:
"Kevin, I can see why you like Caitlin. She plays like you did with the fancy dribbles and impossible passes...but her shots go in!"
And I thought that was a pretty cool comparison. And accurate too.
