A line has seemingly been drawn and you're either with the Black Lives Matter movement or your against it according to the media and masses. There have been both peaceful demonstrations and outright riots with people being lynched. There have been numerous instances of police killing people and people targeting police.

Are we on the verge of a huge race war?

I would say racial tension on the verge of becoming war. Sadly our President has had a direct hand in raising tensions in how he has commented on, and then not commented on many civilian matters.

He needs to learn what my mother taught me: If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all.

I know our political leaders sometimes need to take a stand, but when you take a stand it needs to be to unite our country, not tear it apart as we have heard in the past 7 and a half years.

SFC (Join to see) - Four years? Check out US history, this has been going on since the colonists landed on this continent. This is nothing new. People have enough and they react. Nothing changes unless there is some violent discord. Again check history.

SFC Patricia Tucker - When you speak about US History from before the time of the United States, obviously you are speaking about slavery. How about World History instead of just the North America history you are speaking about? Slavery has been going on for thousands of years since the beginning of time; and yes, it consisted of black and white slavery. I won’t go through the history lesson as it is on the internet for all to read if they desire.

I will say, in my opinion, that this old slavery we are speaking about doesn’t have any bearing on our life today. In my neck of the woods, when the Coal Barons dropped off dead bodies on the family’s front porch from working in the mines (in my grandparent’s time), my grandparents didn’t burn the town down, they worked through all these difficulties and injustices, and provided for their family to make a better life for their children (there was violence, but not to the degree we see today). I am a product of that love and dedication.

The point I am making as far as slavery, as I believe you define it is: our society will only progress as far as its people is willing to take advantage of opportunities provided to us (you and me). I am the first of my family that attended and graduated college, and I am thankful for all the opportunity provided to me. I worked hard to provide for my family and give back to the community as I see fit. During my life I have seen much opportunity offered to the black community in the form of “Affirmative Action”. I have seen first hand: preferences given to minorities in college and in employment. I won’t go into the many real life stories of what I witnessed and what happened to me personally, other to say that many times I felt slighted, this was institutionalized preferential treatment against me, some could name it racism, I don’t.

So, we get to this point in our Country’s history, and our life, where we need to ask ourselves the question: How long can a society provide preferential treatment in education and employment before the beneficiaries become entitled to the point where if they don’t receive the preferential treatment, they name it raciest? These people then want more, and more, and more because they believe it is due to them. Boy! Does this fall into Marxism and Communism, or what? I believe we are seeing the insurgency of Communism that Antifa is fanning the flames for, literally. Black Lives Matter, while I believe was started with good intentions, it appears they were hijacked by Marxists. No one can deny this, their leaders are self professed Marxists.

Where does all this mess place us? Up the creek? I don’t know. Until the majority of the minority ( I shouldn’t say minority because it appears there are just as many non- minority people burning, looting, and killing but for lack of a better word I will) communities that are causing all this death and destruction decide to stop it and work for their families as my grandparents did, it will go on, maybe to the point of the downfall of our Country. Is that what they really want? To destroy the system of government that gave them all this opportunity and is the envy of the world? I hope not because that way leads to our Country going the way of Communism. I won’t see it, I fear for “our” grandchildren.

I like your thinking. For most of the US I believe you’re correct. How to help these city types? That’s the question.

In my opinion, the racial divide isn't as great as groups like BLM try to make it appear. If you notice this crap mostly happens in large metro areas with a large minority community. My problem is they use the protests as excuses for looting and destruction. The message that they are trying to put out is getting lost in the criminal activity. An race whores like Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and the like get to line their pockets even more when this happens. I have become less sensitive to any group now. I'm tired of BLM, Muslims, Fanatic Christians like the Westboro Church and any "special interest" group. The majority of African-American people in this country are hard working citizens who want nothing more then to work, raise their family and enjoy the benefits of being citizens. These idiots who riot do more damage to their community than help. I was always a live and let live kind of man. I find myself starting to have anger and hate in my heart for some groups. I am saddened by this because I was a friendly person to all. Lived by the tenet of "treat others as you want to be treated". Now I find myself wary, and distrustful of many people. If nothing else, the biggest thing I miss about my time in the USAF is the trust, loyalty and brotherhood for everyone I was stationed with. I didn't just fight for my country, I fought for the brother on either side of me.

If BLM really believed that Black lives matter, BLM would address the largest by far murder of black lives.... and its not police, cancer, drunk driving.....
If you had a child on the floor of a house and the sink drain was dripping occasionally and a child on a boat sinking rapidly into the water...which would you address first?
BLM is hitting the sink drain with a hammer ...not only the wrong priority of work effort.. but they will make the leak worse, not better.

PVT (Anonymous) - I have, have you?
"Their fight " is based on a lie.. But thier fight has merit anyway.. hows that for a dose of reality.
And "Their fight "... how is that accomplished by looting and rioting? Or calling for cops to be killed, towns to be burned...does it help thier cause to chase down folks that dont meet a color spectrum and beat them?
oh wait, that's not BLM.. that's just folks wearing BLM shirts, shouting BLM....but not REALLLLY BLM.....
I concur there is an institutional issue that can be addressed... but method, honesty in word and action, plus self reflection in one's own demographic counts for something.
