Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs Politeness is a part of good manners. We used to teach it at home both in word and by example and it was reinforced in school. You can see where our system has broken down just by watching people let go of doors, fail to move aside, start out by yelling demands, etc. I see no good reason for it. As my mom always said, You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Be nice and you are likely to get what you need. What have you seen in the way of polite/not polite behavior lately?

I pray that you and I have humility, wisdom, honor, integrity and treat each person we know or meet with polite respect and engage in courteous conversation, my friend and sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.
I am grateful dear God for fruit of the Holy Spirit that YOU bless us with. I pray that each one of YOUR adopted sons and daughters are blessed with ample kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control as we interact with family members, friends, coworkers, and strangers.
I lift the mentally ill, those living on the streets, the widow and widower, and any who feel trodden on by people. I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children look upon people as YOU do. You see us as we are beneath trappings of finery or penury; handsomeness or external beauty; high or low birth or prejudices. YOU accept us as we are at all times and YOUR love is based on WHO YOU are.
I pray that we are each becoming more polite. I pray that we increasingly are able to gracefully turn the cheek when we are belittled or insulted deliberately or accidentally while we are attempting to be polite.
I pray that desire for restoration of relationship and fellowship is increasing in the households of YOUR adopted sons and daughters.
Let desire for vengeance be far from us as we leave vengeance in YOUR power.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and their loved ones sleep well tonight.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good Thursday morning, my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs Politeness Day is an uplifting focus IMHO.
Politeness is an indication of respect. It can be feigned. When genuine it is a sign of good upbringing and training in etiquette.
Of note politeness in one culture is not necessarily polite in another culture or subculture.
Example I do my best to open the door for my darling wife and pull her chair out slightly in order to help seat her when dining out.
I do my best to open doors for others or hold it open for others to enter or exit. Many appreciate the gesture, and some are visibly offended.
My parents raised me to be polite and to respect each person I came into contact with. Later I had formal training on etiquette as a USMA cadet.
Galatians 5:22-23 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."
