George and Emily Spurrier are leaving their home of 16 years in central Arkansas due to a new law that will ban the health care that they say their 17-year-old transgender son needs.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson, a Republican, vetoed the measure earlier this month, calling it “a vast government overreach.” But the Arkansas General Assembly overrode the veto, and the bill will become law this summer.
Emily Spurrier said when her son heard the news, he sat in her car and cried for an hour.
“It was just kind of a wave of emotions, thinking about moving and then him worrying about some friends that he has here in the Little Rock area,” she said. “And then just the thought that this is really the only place he ever remembers living.”

MSgt Dave Hoffman: "PO1 William "Chip" Nagel From the article:
"Another Arkansas family is also facing a deadline. Amanda Dennis, who has lived in the state for most of her life, said her family has about two to three years to figure out how they’re going to get care for their transgender 8-year-old, Brooke, by the time she begins puberty."
"Is there anyone in the world stupid enough to believe that an eight year old child even understands "transgender"?"
I found someone stupid enough to type this comment above. Yes an eight year old child does understand what being transgender means. When do you think most transgender people realized they are transgender?

SFC (Join to see) - That's what they do... block you but continue to taunt you. You have to block them too if you don't want anything to do with him. He blocked me a long time ago.

MSgt Dave Hoffman first the child in question is 17. Secondly, what is the minimal required age to diagnose someone with depression, anxiety or PTSD? If it's "stupid enough to believe that an eight year old understands "transgender"", would it be equally stupid to believe children can suffer from significant traumatic events? While a child doesn't understand the biological and social ramifications of being anorexic, they understand being anorexic first hand.

As I've said this before just make the required age the age of consistent in the state. If a teen can consistent to have sex willingly or date willingly of an older age then they are old enough to have a sex change and hormonal surgery.

Honestly that still confuses me. Why can we sign up those same 17 year olds into the military but can ban them scientifically proven medical care? Old enough to train for war but not old enough to get treatment?

SFC (Join to see) id say because at 17 joining the military unless you die you can come back. Once you go through the change its irreversible. The vast my majority of the youth flip flop on a range of issues and day to day events. I only suggest age of constant because by 16 or 17 you're aware of what you want or your aware of the consequences of such life altering decisions.

Or how no one would ever let a minor adopt a child - but they force them to give birth with an unwanted pregnancy. It's crazy what some people think kids are and aren't old enough to do.
