For those of you who have personally owned sidearm or sidearms. What is your favorite sidearm and why? What do you like about YOUR sidearm? Please refrain attacking the choices of others.

My favorite is my S&W Model 19 with 4" barrel. I like it because it is versatile and accurate. I can take a new shooter and have them shoot relatively well using .38spl +P, using full power .357 JHP rounds it has plenty of "stopping power" against the most determined of aggressors. Using 158gr JSP rounds I could take a deer out to about 100yds. If needed, and I never have to worry about magazine springs wearing out. Yes it has limited capacity, but I'm not trying to take Fallujah with it either.

SGT Charles Vernier. I personally love the heft, sound, and accuracy of the 1911A1 .45 ACP when properly tuned up by a first rate gunsmith. But . . . it really depends on your specific application. There are times when Browning / Beretta / Walther 9mm, compact, subcompact, or subsonic 22LR fit better for the specific target(s) in specific environment(s). The subsonic 22LR can be very effective when concealed, transported, and used by a properly trained operator. Warmest Regards, Sandy

1LT Sandy Annala, I'd like to be able to offer an educated response, but I cannot. I've been away from the military for a long time, and really don't keep up with newer weaponry. Anything I would say would be nothing more than something I read, and I'd not be able to offer any firsthand knowledge.

LTC Stephen C.. I was intrigued because this weapon seemed a substantial update of the MK22 Mod0 Hush Puppy used in Vietnam. This had some reliability issues and could only fire two magazines before the suppressor died and had to be replaced. Warmest Regards, Sandy

1LT Sandy Annala I have to echo LTC Stephen C. because I too have been out of the Navy for a long time. I always loved the 1911 A1 and had some great gunsmiths who took care of them for us on my ships, but times changed after I left the Navy.

My current personal pistol is a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE 9mm. I have been reading the reviews for the S&W M&P 9mm and .45 cal pistols. Given the reliability and ease of maintenance of my M&P 15, I really do want to see if I can find and test these pistols.

I have to agree on my 1911A3 (started with an A1), back on the range there was significant "battle rattle" in the older pistols but that is usually the barrel link and I enjoyed showing noobs how accurate they are ....best tune up was a good trigger job....for all that I also enjoy the company of a glock 21 ( nice 13 rd double stack) and a sig .40 for lighter moments......

Glock 19
SGT Charles Vernier The best gun to have is the one you have on you, all the time.

Usually it's a Glock 19 for me. The working man's gun.

I couldn't agree more having carried a gun for the last 20 years of my life. I have been issued the M-9 & M-11 in the military. In my civillian law enforcement career I have been issued a Glock 22, a Glock 23, a Glock 27 (backup), A Sig P220 .45, A Sig P226 .40, S&W M&P .357sig, a S&W M&P 9mm, & a S&W 642 (backup) depending on what the firearms instructors loved most. I can use any of them. However, I never asked what the best gun was. I just asked what your "favorite" gun was, not to start a debate, but out of curiosity about what appeals to different shooters.

SGT Charles Vernier I've been reconsidering lately. I find myself way more accurate with SA or DA/SA configurations than with my striker fire glocks. So....Sigs and a CZ 75s are the ones I've got experience with outside the M9 which....ugh...A possible exception from meory is the S&W M&P .45 (striker fire) which if memory serves I actually shot more accurately on average than the Sig .45.... weird. And if money really weren't an object, how about the FN Five-seveN? That thing is great! Low recoil high mag capacity, AP or tumbling?

Still like the G19, but getting more into the original spirit of the question I guess.

That part of the movie was a last minute change. Harrison Ford was running a 102 temp and didn't have the energy to do the scripted fight.
