I've seen some things in the enforcement of weight and body fat standards that made just as much sense as this hilarious Duffleblog article. The Army spends a LOT of resources training soldiers in critical skills and then we might kick them out for a one-time tape test failure? There needs to be room for some flexibility and common sense.

At 25th ID(L) one of my Intell analysts became ill and had to take medicine that caused him to gain water weight. During this period, the SGM of the 125th MI Bn declared a tape test and my analyst was found to be overweight. Even though this was a temporary condition, the SGM insisted on taking my Intell analyst through a separation proceeding. Thankfully he survived. And a few weeks later, the Bn SGM was found to be using the tape test as a pretext to grope his female soldiers. I was thrilled to be able to assist in the removal of this individual from the Army.
