A reality show "star" (I use the term very loosely) has been outed by the SF Community and subsequently kicked out of the SF Association. Why do people need to do this? Live up to what YOU have accomplished in the service, whichever branch it may be and regardless of your MOS.
Personally, I'm a lifetime member of the SF Association. I served in two SF Groups for a total of 10 years and I loved it. I never ever once considered myself to be SF, "tabbed" or a "Green Beret". I did wear the green beret for a very brief period in 1992 when ALL personnel wore it, regardless of MOS. It was quickly changed later that year for support personnel to wear the maroon beret. To be honest, it did not feel right to wear something I did not earn and I'm glad they changed the policy.

Most of these guys go for years without getting caught and then are so wrapped in their lie that they cannot get out of it. They continue to live the lie until they get caught. These stories are more and more common place and are pretty disgusting.
I prefer the stories about the guys that were heroes and know one knows it. Had a guy retire from federal service with almost 40 years combined GS/USMC service. His guys got him a shadow box for his retirement and his wife and kids never knew about the purple heart that he had received in Vietnam.

SSgt Gregory Guina, now that's an excellent story. I don't like these types of stories either but sometimes it has to be told so others know what to look out for. We definitely need more positive stories.

Good post...reading it led me to check out "Special Forces Poser Patrol" on facebook. there's more on this guy there if you want to check it out.

SGT Richard Hanner, this is a weird one... the article said he served back in 71. So he is a fraud but... still he served. However I don't excuse his actions and I am puzzled as to why he didn't know how to fix his uniform... Is he on Rally Point?

SGT Richard H. I don't even have them on my hat. We have several Post VFW ball caps I just like the normal look to it. But I'm not saying don't wear your wings and CIB on it. Be proud of it. If you collect hats of shirts our post has red shirt friday T-shirts which I love. It has the VFW logo on it with a large soldier's cross on the front and american flag and POW/MIA on the sleeves. Besides when wearing them in the post on Fridays we get discounts on our drinks, LOL. If you like that stuff I can send them out to you. I try to collect items from the many posts I visit since I work on the road often. And majority all welcome me like family when I whip that life member card out. That is what I love about the Legion and VFW. Veterans helping veterans. Let me know you can Direct message me and I'll put together a little package with post hat and T-shirt in it.
