It seemed that the airline hijackings by terrorists would never end at the time, but they have pretty much ended now.

It depends upon how long it takes the world to wake up and take the threat seriously.

ISIS depredations have even gotten Arab nations to start defending themselves rather than shelter under the American umbrella that this administration has folded up.

When the Europeans are hurt enough to get up off their butts and America elects a wartime president we can start making serious inroads into the terrorists' operations. Terrorists are surging now due primarily to the lack of any serious opposition.

Awesome question. I don't think this will happen in our lifetime.

I don't think we can afford to do that again in this country. I'm a firm believer that we will get attacked again in this country because we will get comfortable and we are a county that forgets about events like 911 and the bombing of Pearl Harbor. You be surprised at the number of youth when asked don't really care or know very little about those events. I know the military and all those who have served will not forget, but our populations as a whole will soon forget and let their guard down again. There are some many areas that can be attacked in this country! I don't know what the answer is?

COL Mikel Burroughs, sir, the question as I see it is whether we can afford NOT to do it.

Capt Seid Waddell you are absolutely correct there is a large expense for keeping this country safe, but at the same time Homeland Security and the TSA has created an abundant amount of new jobs for our veterans (at the taxpayer's expense). It comes down to where we want to see our money spent (homeland security) or dollars being spent on useless add-ons to every piece of legislation that goes through the House or Senate. More jobs create more taxpayers, so one feeds the other. I believe we owe it to our children and the next generation to be on the lookout and not let down our guard. I'm a big proponent of taking the fight to the enemy on their turf versus our turf, but there are many that will disagree with that as well. It's definitely a complex issue. Sorry didn't mean to ramble on!
