Though it misses some key things that actually framed the picture - this is a good read. Maybe the start point was the Marian Wars - which were waged in determining who is a citizen between Rome and her Italian allies. That opened up opportunity for the oligarchy in its aftermath. And what of the triumvirate - which was a three way deal on power that showed the Republic was but a shadow being maintained for control? Those frame the picture.. and one has to do that to really color the painting when comparing to modern American Republic.

I will have to print this out and keep this in mind. The way the Democrats are acting with climate change being the biggest existential threat when we have multiple threats from Rogue Nations worldwide, I can see if that the fifth column has succeeded and making us take money away from defense and putting it towards climate change thereby weakening us and bring in our downfall.
