More from: "Out of the Mouth of Seniors:"
Well I made it a mile and four tenths today. Right at 3 miles an hour. Which for me is sprinting speed. Lungs were a bit tired at the end, but most of the joints held up. And...I got to pet three dogs ...and a cat!
One of the ladies taught her cat to go on walks with her dog. That is only the third person in my whole life who managed to train a cat to tag along on a walk. And the kitty climbed right up into my arms...and promptly started purring on her back. And the dog demanded a scratch or two.
On the way home, I hit the Grocery store. The Library didn't have the book I wanted...so they ordered it for me. And that was the end of all my tasks.
That is why I like being old. My day just oozed by like syrup on pancakes. I could have easily skipped the Library and even the Grocery store. ButI stuck it out and did three things in one day.
When I think back to my Army Days, and how much I did before I was even allowed to go eat...and man...that makes me tired now. LOL
I got to walk...outdoors...and pet some pooches, and make a cat purr. So how could it get any better? Color me grateful for today. And whatever tomorrow brings...well, that will be mañana ...and I am still in today. LOL

You packed more joy into that walk than most people squeeze out of a three-day weekend. You hit your miles, made friends with multiple dogs, got adopted by a cat, conquered the grocery store, and even strong armed the library into ordering your book. That is a full mission profile by any reasonable standard. You are out there proving that getting older does not mean slowing down, it just means choosing better side quests. Keep going, Sergeant. You are making the rest of us look lazy in the best possible way :-)

Boy oh Boy, I never thought of it as a Mission Profile! Loved that thought. When you think back at your time as a Platoon Sgt, you will realize you delegated more work in one day than I have done this year! But thanks for the comment, I shall show that to my friends!

SGT Kevin Hughes -
"darned near Star Trek"? How About "Up Close And Comfortable"-?
You "AIN'T" To Far Off Course. -- I'm A HUGE Fan Of The NOVA Channel - The History Channel - The Travel Channel - And Such, And Feel Secure In Telling Anyone Whom Asks AND Those Whom Don't Even Give A Ship Too -- "We Are NOT Alone" In Our Universe, And Many Others Have Been Here Long BEFORE We Even Showed Up.
And One 'L" of A Lot Of Government Information,- Due to "The Freedom Of Information Act" Came Into Law, Will Back It Up.. It AIN'T The Boogie Man, These Beings Are Way Ahead Of Us And No Matter Their Intent, We Have Little To No Defense .

SGT Kevin Hughes I like the sound of oozing the day along. When we mature in age, we are suppose to ooze.

Referring back to my Army career, I've had people ask, "Did you jump out of airplanes?" No. I don't like jumping out of bed in the morning. Now it's get up - inventory the aches and pains and try to limit the, "oh, that's new".....
