More from: "Out of the Mouth of Seniors:"
One of my friends lives up there in Washington State. Just North of Seattle. He retired after a long career as both a Real Estate Agent, and a Contractor. He is a huge Sports Fan too. And he makes me laugh.
So he called to see if the "Bomb Cyclone" hit my area yet, and is my family okay. I brought him up to speed...nothing yet.
So then he told me that the Seattle Football Team might be for sale after the SuperBowl. I did not know that. And then he informed me that the Portland Trailblazers are close to being sold too.
"Why?"
"Because Paul Allen died, and they have to take care of his Estate and Will."
"But he died like ...I don't know ...a while back."
"Yep. 2018. "
"Seven years later...and they are still executing his Will?!"
He laughed.
"Kevin, he was insanely Rich. It probably took a year just to estimate the value of his sock drawer."
I laughed.
I told him when my brother passed two years ago...he had a Will but didn't sign it. So it took my brother doggone near a year to get all straightened out. And I thought that was a lot of work.
"Kevin, glad you have a Will. And a Lawyer did it all for you. Paul Allen had a TEAM of Lawyers to make sure his Will was Iron clad and all the different parts would be carried out. Like he sold his Yacht "Opus." But he had it refitted after his Death so that when it went up for sale, it would be worth more."
"He had a yacht too?"
He laughed again.
"They all do at his level Kevin. Can't just measure weenies anymore."
I laughed again.
"How much did he sell it for?"
"Well, he wanted almost 300 Million, but he only got 235 Million from what I know."
I choked.
"$235 Million...for a boat?"
He laughed again.
"Well, "boat" might be a bit of an understatement. "
And that made me laugh.
"So let me get this straight. He sold the Portland BB Team for like 3 Billion or so, and would get like 8 Billion for the Seattle Seahawks...and he already sold his boat for chump change. How much did he get for his house?"
"Which one?"
I lost it. I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe.
Those guys live in a different world. A decade just to sort out your Will? Selling stuff off where Millions are just chump change. And when you ask for how much they got for their house...you get a question: "Which one?"
I am starting I think I might be poor. LOL
I told my friend my Will says: "Take anything you want, leave the rest at the curb."
He laughed.

That is another world entirely, one that I really would not like to be in. I am comfortable where I am. If I had my druthers, I would be spending my last dollar when I passed on. but if the wife outlives me, there goes that plan. LMAO.

I have noticed in the news and in some of my extended family, that when you die people, you never knew come out the woodwork for their perceived share of the wealth.

Yeah, I bet he had to deal with that in spades! I have seen it in my extended family too. Luckily, among my brothers and sisters. None of us made it to the level where there is anything to fight over. LOL
