This battle showed the marines how vicious and tenacious the enemy fought. It also set the scene for an ROE which did not take into consideration compassion or sympathy. It was a fight to the death. The battle would set the tone for future battles to come. The marines lost their innocence and saw events they should have never been seen and spent their lives trying forget about them.
