Doesn't matter if you agree with this move or not - it's been directed and it's happening. What are your suggestions for renaming the following bases?

- Fort Bragg
- Fort Rucker
- Fort Benning
- Fort Gordon
- Fort Hood
- Fort Polk
- Fort A.P. Hill
- Fort Belvoir
- Fort Lee
- Fort Pickett

I have a suggestion, leave well enough alone! You can't erase history no matter how hard you try.

Why "honor" enemy combatants who fought and killed US soldiers in the first place? My personal view point comes from the fact that my grandparents ( born in 1861) were slaves as children. I have issue with honoring those fighting to keep slavery as a cornerstone institution. The base naming came during the Lost cause ideology developed by former confederates after the civil war to justify succession and deny slavery was the primary cause for the conflict. It was a southern propaganda that elevated confederate leaders to heroic positions and suggested slavery was somehow beneficial to black people . It's ALL insulting

CW3 Richard "Lee" Doty - History gets written by winner of any conflict. So Good luck finding any actual documents especially if you search online because you won't find any. You will only find what fits the current narative.

I Do Not bow to Political pressures and if they rename any Base, Fort, Ships or Squadron so be it BUT I LIVED AND TRAINED AT FORT HOOD and if they rename it because of Political Pressures i don't care as it Will Always Be Fort Hood to me and not because Hood fought for the Confederacy, because it was my home for 3 years. If they want to Name 'NEW' Bases/Forts/Squadrons and Ships after Union Soldiers/Medal of Honor Recipients/Black/Native/Asian ect... I am all for it. The Past will only push us Forward so we Do Not Repeat it and in 'Honor' teach history as it actually happened Not the 'white-washed' version as that is what Disrespects the (unfair trade between states and buy selling of slaves Civil War. SrA Cook, my grandmother (born in the 1820's) traveled in a cover wagon and used the 'N' word when i was a child (my father/mother taught me differently as into respect other and not prejudge because they were different [me born 1958]) but she learned through the years when she had a 'B' caretaker and finally figured out She was Wrong with what she did and thought all those years before. Now before her death she added this caretaker into her will with an Apology 'Spoken Out Loud' and if i remember correct $10,000 thousand dollars (i received a crisp $5 dollar bill and her favorite vacuum which still after 60 + years still works great) during the reading of her last words. What i am saying everything takes time. I would take up arms for and with you by taking point or covering your 6 we soldiers are a family.

It's humorous to me about how the big Army (and the left side) always tries to change the names of something we've always had & used....
Like the now politically correct term of "DFAC or dining facility".
And yet - we still, and probably will always call it the "Chow Hall"!!!
To me, Ft Bragg has a special place in my heart, soul & memory - and it will always be Bragg, no matter how many different politically-correct left side terms they decide to rename it!

However, did you know it was named after a Confederate? Were you aware of Bragg's earned a reputation for incompetence, for wantonly shooting his own soldiers, and for losing battles? Why should this nation honor a losing side in a Civil War? We are ONE NATION. We have coddled the Confederates long enough. They lost. They should not be honored any longer.

I recommend you don't name anything after any person. Waste of money to change them when someone finds fault with the name. We have people who cheated on their wives but have things named after them. We have a slew of politicians who did drugs and stole money from the taxpayers but they have things named after them. We have politicians who owed slaves and their names are on all kind of things. We even had a politician who drowned a woman but got off because he was a politician and I think things are named after him. Some people on here object to bases being named after those who fought in the Civil War but have no objections about these others. Funny how that works.
