Are there any physical, mental, or personality traits that you associate with a particular branch of the military or occupational specialty?

Well, staying in my own Service, if you want to be Infantry, you got to be thin. The ability to embrace the Suck is a strong trait. Remember, in the Infantry, there is no Success without Suc.
In the Engineers, if you saw a guy that looked like he was working out with The Rock, you assumed that he was from a Medium Girder Bridge Company. The boys pushing steel all day tended to be on the stout side.

After i started lifting I went to 48"chest and a 16 1/2 neck and around 200 lbs at 5'9". I aways managed a 90 + run score at that weight. But I didn't run much faster at 170.

LtCol Robert Quinter - Yeah, just ask them and they'll be more than happy to tell you. :)

Maj John Bell - Such truthful people just can't mislead anyone! :) Can't say from experience, but I understand the women pilots now are correspondingly beautiful, engaging, competent and humble.

LtCol Robert Quinter - And let's not even get into the exmplar examples of all that is right in America, Marine Corps Infantry. There are no words.

This is a rare look into the inner workings of a Marine 3011 Master Sergeant Promotion Packet. Great guys, tough as nails, but intelligence not required.

SSG Warren Swan - LOL, when you compare the ratio of support personnel to combat personnel, if you were to shrink the Army to the manning levels of the Marine Corps, the Army would probably only have about a dozen combat personnel.

Why have most of the Marines I've worked with act like they have something to prove?
And why do some of the Naval Officers I've worked with act like their excrement doesn't stink and seem to talk down to NCO's?

Staff, I've dealt with the same thing with some of the Jarheads. I've had em crack on our Dress Blues talking about the gold stripe and how they have the "blood stripe" on theirs. I direct them to the nearest gunbunny for refresher training on who had it first. So far the gunbunnies are winning. Their "blood stripe" IS borrowed from the US Army.
Still waiting for the Army Marine Corps football game in December.......

My best friend is an active duty Marine and he's an exception, because he is awesome. I was in charge of a couple Marines for a short while at my last joint assignment and phewww could they be a pain in the ass when I dished out tasks for the day. However, I'm not dense and realize it's not all Marines. And the two Naval officers that would always give me a hard time served in an aviation unit prior but were not aviators. I met a former Top Gun instructor and he was great. Even the surface warfare team chief I worked with was probably the best officer I had the privilege of serving under.

Sgt (Join to see) - And you're a Marine, so that's probably why you haven't noticed. The select few Marines I've met acted that way because I'm a soldier. That's what I meant.

Because people are insecure, weak, and struggling to always prove something in all walks of life and branches. Some infantry have never deployed while some have yet they never left a desk and stayed on the camp. Those are my favorite types to troll.

My wife says that former naval officers are impatient, kinda "OCD" and able to sleep through anything...Hey,wait a minute!
Seriously though...Most Sailors I know are versatile folks, able to do lots of things at the same time, and somewhat pragmatic, bordering on cynical. Probably comes from having to wear lots of "hats", and constantly having more "stick" than "carrot". Most Soldiers I've known (including my father and father-in-law) are experts in getting through the "suck". Many of the most intelligent and successful people I've known were Airmen.
Marines? Well, I roomed with one at Annapolis, dated a female Marine officer once, and work with one now. Regardless of what anyone says about 'em...if I had to pick anyone to watch my back in a fight, it would be a United States Marine.

MPs always have that "I've been bullied my whole life and now I'm going to take it out on everyone" vibe, but are less likely to shoot you than a real cop.
