I'm a prior service Army OCS candidate, skipping BCT and going straight to OCS. Some people said I can take a POV to OCS and others said no. If I can, then do I have to fill out any paperwork? Thanks for your help.

I recently graduated OCS here at Benning. POVs are allowed; plenty of people arrived here in them. You will have the opportunity to use it as you advance through the course.
I personally was not aware before hand and thus didn't bring mine. However, I don't recall my roommate needing any special paperwork for his.

Yes, Candidates can bring POVs at their own expense to OCS. A parking area will be made available. The POV will need to be in good working order and able to pass a vehicle inspection and have on-post stickers before they arrive to OCS in order for a candidate to use it. Candidates will not be able to access their POVs for at least the first 6 weeks.

Contact the school directly, use your POC.
Anything else is just hearsay, and won't help you. Get it straight from the school.

Do you have orders? If so, does it say anything about being allowed a POV? Otherwise, you can skip all the middlemen and contact the OCS school house at the base you will be at and ask them directly.

If it's anything like the Navy, people show up in cars all the time. They get placed in a fenced lot and that's the last you see of it until you graduate. So the car sits outside, tires rotting, battery going downhill, etc. So I'd say make sure you ask complete question of the schoolhouse to include what happens to the car once you get there. If you can't have it for the long haul, consider covered storage off site so you can get to it readily when you can.

I attended OCS in 2013 and had my POV dropped off after the first few weeks. Did not need any special paperwork, but needs to be able to pass the usual Army vehicle inspection. After the first phase you will get to use it more often. If you are in a leadership position, or have associates that need a ride, your services may be summoned especially as you get closer to graduation. Did you contact the OCS POC to confirm?

Yes sir. I called OCS HHC, staff duty, and CO's office, and all told me that I can bring it. But my recruiting unit is telling me that I need an order/memorandum to do that. Since I live about three hours away from Ft. Benning, I might just park my POV somewhere in Benning about two days prior to my reporting date. LOL!

Thanks for all of your help!! In a worse case, I'm thinking of two options. Option one: bring a POV after Christmas leave. Option two: park my vehicle somewhere in Fort Benning about two days prior to my report date since I live in state of Georgia. LOL!! But I'll either work it out with my recruiter prior to reporting or take the first option.

I was a Platoon Trainer at the Ft. Benning OCS from 2012-2013. POVs are allowed and I highly recommend bringing it. You will not be able to use it often but there are down times in training near the end of the course to include social events your class will put together where having a POV will be helpful. As stated by7 another, there is a parking lot designated for OCS Candidates' POVs and your vehicle will be inspected during the first day or so of the course. However you will not need to get on-post stickers for your POV. Ft. Benning did away with those back in 2013 or 2014.

I didn't do OCS there but I did do IOBC, BLC, MCCC there and it is IMPOSSIBLE to do anything at Benning without a car. Had to drive there from Texas every time because I couldn't get rental car authorized.

I wouldn't think so, you should be in a training 24/7 environment for the length of the course
