While I understand that there is a lot of events downrange that, for lack of a better word, suck. However, during your tour(s), what did you do to keep your mind off of things? Learn an instrument? School work? Gym time?

What did you do to get you through the time in theatre?

I agree with P01 Nagel, bring a Lap top with an amazing video card, and at least 4 terabyte hard drive for the music and movies, of course you should use that stuff after you are more than proficient on your job and get to the gym as much as possible.

On my 2 Westpacs Videogames seemed to be the in thing. We played a lot of Mortal Combat.

I spent a lot of time in the MWR, the gym, or hanging out BBQing at Class 1. Good times, I miss it :)

I would either write poetry or work on my novel.

We made a custom gym with sandbags until we finally got a bowflex machine at our FOB/House. Only got to go back to base maybe 2-5 days a month. Ah, memories.
