Although I totally dislike, don't care for and just about Loath Hilary Clinton....this actually may be something I like. Drug companies have far too long charged way too much for drugs...pills and it's high time they are capped on these ridiculously high prices.
I don't know what Hilary's plan is, but I'd like to hear what she has to say.
Oh my GOSH...did I just really say that about her. lol

Easy to fix is easy to say. Remember Hillarycare? That was the precursor to Obamacare. It didn't fare too well because Hillary was never a consensus builder. Never will be. Of course, if she "ruled" like a tyrant, she could simply reduce drug prices by a declaration. However, drugs would then disappear and where would we be? To address the high cost of drugs we must first address the high cost of FDA processes for bringing new drugs to market. Then we have to address the high cost of liability insurance on drugs. Fixing those two issues would help a lot, but there would be more problems to solve. Think Hillary is up to it? She wasn't the first time around, was she?

Capt Seid Waddell - Just when I thought there was one decent bone in her body...but it's probably just a ploy to get more votes and her plan probably stinks.

Sgt Kelli Mays, it is campaign season - time to make promises in exchange for votes.

We have some challenges in this area for sure. It costs a lot of money and time to research, develop, design, test and get an FDA approval for a drug. It can be many years and scores of millions of dollars. The companies have to make their return on that investment while they have their patent or protection for the drug they developed. That is the simple reason new or reformulated drugs cost so much. If we take the opportunity to make a profit off of the investment, who will make the investment?
What we should do is to look to remove some of the costs to get the drug to market. Outside of developing the drug itself, it is things such as FDA approval which requires many years of testing and costly/expensive approval processes. They also must protect themselves from legal action with insurance and a lot of legal costs also driving up the cost of the final product.
When people like Hillary talk about making drugs less expensive they never talk about getting the bureaucracy out of the way, they always talk about trying to go after the pharmaceutical companies. We need to be careful about listening to what our itching ears want to hear. These companies have given us significant breakthroughs in treatments for millions. What exactly are the politicians bringing us besides debt, division, disharmony and disaster?

I am aware of that. I'll be interested in hearing how any politician can defend a 5,500% overnight markup. That's definitely not indicative of a healthy free market operating in any way that's productive for our society. That's indicative of a monopoly exploiting its market power.

The way new drugs are developed in a free society [as opposed to socialism] is that the pharmaceutical and high end medical supply companies [MR, CT Scan, machines, mechanical hearts, etc.] bear the financial risk of developing new treatments and breakthrough treatments under the watchful eyes of HHS and their FDA.
The experimental costs and trial of the medicines/devices is borne by the Pharmaceutical and Medical manufacturing companies. The costs of drugs and equipment that fails to meet the standards are eaten by those companies.
Drugs that are significantly different and improve the possibility of helping people with specific medical problems are authorized by the FDA once patented [not sure of sequence] to be sold with no generic equivalents authorized for a period of time [7 years may be the baseline]. This is where the pharmaceutical companies [negotiation between manufacturer, insurance companies and FDA] can make back some of the funding they expended in the trials and production of the medicine. After the period is over, generic equivalents are authorized many times except for unique medicines which have small populations that require them.
If Hillary Rodham Clinton is pushing a solution she may have good intentions; but, I expect she is proposing a government heavy solution with regulatory requirements and government oversight of the processes.

more socialism... now government will dictate the prices a manufacturer can sell its products for.
Hildabeast, I think you should cap the cost on cars too... I want a new Bentley but only want to pay the Prius sticker price...

Let's hope she is truly sincere about it and this is just not another ploy to get more votes and lord knows what else.

"Did you know Clinton has a plan to fight "drug price gouging?" Clinton to unveil details of her plan soon."
Ok she has been laying out her plans lately to change the focus on her email & server issues. But has the liberal media scrutinized her plans? No because Hillary has them in her hip pocket. Hillary has her Advocates; Paul Begala & Karen Finney trying to sell these plans. However they didn't know the details and their answers to questions has one wondering. "What a bunch of BS and an insult to voter's intelligence. ". Finney was asked how will Hillary pay for these plans and she could not answer this question. Finney also stated the email issue is not a big deal & trumped up by Repubs when asked about paying for Hillary's plans.. Begala says "By reducing waste & corruption in government spending".
Now I better understand why Hillary is losing support among women end millenniums

"The plan seeks to address a key shortcoming of Obamacare, President Obama’s signature health law, as the Democratic front-runner aims to show how she would put her imprint on it."
Not to worry Mrs. Clinton will fix what's wrong with Obamacare's drug prices. Then claim this as another in her long list of accomplishments.....
