I used to get a spanking at least once a week for a variety of reasons. Anything from lying to stealing, or even telling a dirty joke would result in a bottom warming! One of the worse parts of it was when I had to get the belt! Did your parents spank, and did it help shape you into a better person? I wonder what kind of person I would be without this character development?

I got tore up as a kid. Hand and belt. Variety of reasons, always deserved.

That said, I have only spanked my daughter a handful of times. 2 of those times were for running into the road/parking lot (dangerous). I've tapped her mouth before for mouthing off, but that's about it.

Taping the mouth is something I was threatened with, but it never happened.

It honestly more scared her and shocked her than anything.

Her mother doesn't really discipline at all, so at our house we have very strict rules, and it took her a while to get adjusted.

Yes and so did my schools' principals with paddles. Yes that's plural!

In high school we had a dean of boys that paddled so hard it lifted you up off the floor!
