ALL New Connections - Back by Popular Demand! I'm still receiving some great photos from all you RP Members. THANKS!

Keep them coming!

All you photogenic military personnel out there in RP Land let’s have a little photo session just to lighten it up today! Share the first photograph or the earliest photograph of yourself when you entered the military and tell us the date of the photo.

I'll start with Private Burroughs in 1975 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO & end with Colonel Mikel in 2005!

Just for a little variety, here's my dad's first picture in the Navy, 1940. Look at the length of the bayonet on that Springfield '03

I had not yet graduated basic training but I had a pass on Thanksgiving to visit my sister. This is really Thanksgiving 1972 but developed in December. Loved the double breasted jackets made popular by Jackie Kennedy.

PS: my flight graduated in December and the weather was bad so our parade got cancelled. Unfortunately we never had a flight photo taken either as a result of that. :( See if you can find your flight. http://www.bmtflightphotos.af.mil/1970s/index.asp

Indeed, I do, sir. Taken at Fort Polk, BCT, June 1975.

If you look close, you'll see the sweat marks on the collar of my shirt. It was extremely hot, we were being hurried through the process, and everybody was sweating up a storm for these pictures.

I finally found my first picture in uniform. January 1975 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO graduation from Basic Training from D-1-3 in the aluminum-sided Quonset huts. After this we marched across post to B-2-4 for Advanced Individual Training as 12B Combat Engineer. The first set of WWII wooden barracks we marched into were soon declared unsafe after the stairs collapsed. Then we were marched to newer brick barracks.
