This isn't my very first one, due to the other is my basic training regular picture, but this one was while I was at basic and was getting pictures on Lackland. It was really flipping cold that day.

Not US military, but senior picture from Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, circa 1967. Can't find any from early AF days, you didn't get a lot of photos developed on a 2nd Lt salary. :-)

That makes sense?! It is obvious my iPhone is ‘possessed’ and I am definitely technically impaired! LOL Delighted You saw all three photos! Hated those damn women’s hats! Was delighted when the changed to the ‘envelope’ style cover for women in 1986 in Germany!SSgt Terry P.

Standing in a long line, freezing. March into a room, a PFC tosses you a shirt, a private gives you a tie, already tied. One spec four tosses you a coat and says, “this ought to fit”. Last but not least a buck Sargent slams a bus driver hat on you and say smile

SGT Mike Adams, I rolled reading your description. Mine experience was the same. Except the Sgt in Charge found out I could tie a tie...so I spent the next hour tying ties! Nice ride too! Sgt Hughes

too funny but I had / have two of them hats. I have worn it going to church at FT Benning. the new company around the corner called attrition morning SIR for me because I looked like an officer with that cover on. because they stopped issuing them if you had one you could ware it or buy one from the PX like I did it looked better than the pointy piss cutter one. that they issued and had to ware in formation. I was only just A pvt no stripes just grad a week before so I could ware the hat with blue infantry disk's my cord US & cross rifles with blue disk's name tag weapons badges & 1 ribbon ARMY SERVICE RIBBON they stopped the NATIONAL DEFENCE at that time in 26JUNE1982 so long story short I looked like an officer but was only A PVT-1 so I dropped them for push up's their drill SGT came out and tried to chew me A new one. I stayed back as A drill CPL. but our cycle didn't start for about 3 weeks so I just did A detail at the drill training course and read one of the training books. it was opened to PT DISIPLIN it said no one can drop you for physical punishment unless in training for an up coming PT test. within 45 days of the PT TEST or something like that PERIOD. after you graduate from your basic or in transition of A TPD training personal Discharge. so the drill couldn't do anything to me only thing he could is punish his Recruit's. I just read that the day before so he knew what I was talking about it felt good to put the drill SGT in his place. but bad to for getting them in trouble with the drill SGT. when I was in their shoes A week before. but A few weeks later I was pinned with CPL stripes as A volunteer drill CPL to train the next group of trainees coming to go through basic part of training. they offered it to 3 from every PLT in the company. but only 3 of us stayed all from 2nd PLT C-6-1 ITB all the rest moved on to their Company's. we stayed at E-4 pay until 11AUGEST 1982 with an HONORABLE DISCHARGE FROM FT BENNING ARMY INFANTRY SCHOOL active duty for training back to what ever unit's we ware going to mine was 26th (YANKEE) INFANTRY DIVISION CO. C 1-101st INFANTRY UNION st BRAINTREE MA. ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

Col, Here is a photo of me in Boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in 1969. As a member of the Drill Team company, I was assigned the role of "Boatswain's Mate" for the Training Center Graduation Ceremonies. Here, I was asked to "Pipe" a retiring Chief Petty Officer "over the side" in a traditional ceremony called "Tending the Side" where a team of "Sideboys" salute as a dignitary arrives or departs a Naval ship. The Boatswain uses a Bosun's Pipe to signal the stages of the ceremony.
