Are you talking management or on the line?
I was a union covered employee, but they took three years to realize it and ask me to join.
I managed in both union and non union. Union is easier. There is a book answer for most everything.
Overall I didn't really see a lot of difference. But, I know there can be.
So, I would say it depends on the situation. It can be good or bad.

I worked as a machinist in a union in New Orleans (still have a number).....I could not believe how slow the crew worked....more effort was concentrated on saving energy for the bar following the shift...it was New Orleans.......

Never had a Union do a thing for me. I worked miracles on my own merits though...

SFC Everett Oliver, I had a union offer to break my legs for me if I didn't go to their meeting and vote the way they told me to vote. It was my first job and it was in a closed shop state - union membership was a condition of employment.

My only experience with union workers is when we had to contract work through the local union of Detroit for set up and maintenance of a convention center that we were going to use for our Army displays for a auto show.

It's like having Jedi powers while everyone else is in slow motion. They resent your Jedi powers though.

As a Private Security Officer that has worked a lot of "Labor" issues for our Company and Clients, I'm sure the Union Hate My Guts and I understand but I also Respect them and what they have done for our country and quality of life in this country for both Union and Non-Union Folks. Not sure that I would be Cut Out for "Union" but having served on 2 Nuclear Ships Built and Maintained in the Shipyard by Union Folks, I respect the Quality of their Work and their glowing safety record in the Shipyards that I was in.

I do remember working one Strike though where the Union Guys were hollering at us on the other side of the line. Calling us Un-American, I couldn't help myself the next day when I came in to do security for the Strike Coverage I had my Hat in the Back window "Commander" Veterans of Foreign Wars. That put a sock in them. LOL! I do love tweaking peoples noses some times.

Understood. My only union job, and I was told to slow down because I was making everyone else in the shop look bad. Union jobs will spoil a hard worker.
