I think it is a Scam. They Underfund a Program, Guarantee it to fail. When it does they go, See, See then they Outsource it and their Buddies get rich and nothing really changes but they brag about it as a success of Private Market Business and we get less for our Tax Dollar. Some big shot gets to collect the overhead costs.

The sad part of all of this is that the VA that I use used to have one of the highest ratings in the US, perhaps the highest (don't remember for sure.) Now I hear about problems from other Vets as well, almost like it's the in things to have problems with the VA.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I am really beginning to wonder if they are also underfunding its replacement, the Choice program, or at least, funding it so low that the best doctors and medical facilities are refusing to jump onboard. At least that is what it seems like to me. The longer since its start, it seem the poorer the services have been.

Cpl Franz Buhlmann - At this point we will accept anything and they can say that Outsourcing saved the system. Somehow Private Scam Artists are so much better than Gov't Employees.

The original source of this rumor was an independent government group that did a study and about 1/2 of the group recommended closing (akin to the BRAC) the VA and outsourcing the mission to private firms by increasing the funds that a Veteran would get to seek their own care. At the core the study has some merit to be considered - but needs a thorough vetting before any action is taken. Informally the Veterans I have spoken to are NOT in favor of a Privatization unless they are really mad.

I am glad that someone confirmed that this is at least being talked about/considered by some at the government level.

I for one that is disappointed with what is happening at the VA, firmly believes that it is still much better in many ways as what is happening at other providers. Maybe no tall, but who can promise that we would have access to the good ones?

CLP There is article in Forbers about the VA. Real good. You can go to Open the Book, and see how much they make in the VA. When Congress last did something for the VA it got Union approval first. Unions before Vets. The TSA is going to end up with a sweet beal to feel people up and pick on 7 year olds and Grandmothers. But let Muslins waltz on thru.
