How do our service men and women feel about our military housing being owned by a British company?

I am just wondering why military housing is owned by a British company? Balfour Beatty Communities is the US subsidiary of Balfour Beatty, plc, a British company. Personally I feel that no foreign company, no matter how friendly we are with them should own housing that American warriors and there families are residing in. What is they decided to sell to an Iranian company!

Bound to happen with Privatizing and Outsourcing. Big Corporate Financing. Nature of the Beast. Not really overly concerned about it. The Flat in Navy Housing in London that I lived in is now Public Housing in Ickenham since the Navy shut down operations in London. Where I lived in Adak nature is Reclaiming and where I was stationed in West Virginia there is talk of making it into a Womens Prison. Oh Well.

PO1 William "chip" Nagel, i agree when i was in germany they closed the kaserne in munich and from what was told to me by friends german govt took those houses and rented them to civilians. I can only assume the majority were germans. Like you said no big deal

I'm usually with you on most things SFC, but I gotta diverge on this one. The UK is never going to betray us. Fun fact: did you know that BP (British Petroleum) own's 1/3 of Alyeska (the Alaskan Pipeline)? And that they own American ships to transport that oil?

Yes, I do know that SN Greg Wright and that is part f the problem. Our economy is owned by too many foreign investors.

I always cast a Leary Eye when it comes to British Petroleum. Our relationship with that Company has been problematic for a long time. Starting with the CIA overthrowing Prime Minister Mosaddeq of Iran in 1953 and Installing the Shah at the Behest of British Petroleum. I love the Brits, BP not so much.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - Those people who made those decision in 1953 against the Prime Minister are most likely retired and deceased. My wife is native Canadian and I was born in 1962 and she forgives me for the residential schools and the cultural genoicide but that was done decades before I was born and stopped in 1995. BP bought Arco and I think they sold it to Tesoro so BP is way different than it was over 65 years ago.

You go with lowest price/bidder and the GSA contracts have to monitor any activity on ownership of the company. What is being suggested is isolationism. Sure hope other nations don't have the same feelings about our corporations with the many subsidiaries in their countries. As to one lone comment about corruption, that is a laugh when we consider all the union corruption and protectionism by our politicians.
