Ferguson grand jury
Whether you feel that the grand jury's decision to not prosecute the police officer was correct or not how do you think that that community and us as a nation can move forward and heal?

We shouldn't have to heal. The grand jury found the cop not guilty. It had African Americans on it. The evidence was examined and the guy was found not guilty.

You are partial correct, we shouldn't have to heal, but back in the 70's someone put lipstick on pig. Political Correctness was something that dates back to way back then, but never used to later. No one had courage to readdress the issues until the Elephant in the room was destroying the house it was in.

Nudging into a few of these highway blocking a-hole "poser" protestors with my bumper might help me feel better. I say "poser protestors" because what do these folks in other states outside MO think they are going to "win" by pulling these dangerous stunts?

MY thoughts....hmmm... well we know that this young black male robbed a store, attacked the officer while the officer was still (it seems the black male was going for the officers firearm) in his car, then ran and then was shot to death. My father and some friends have worked in law enforcement and I do know that its always a 50/50 chance things go bad when trying to apprehend a criminal, all deciding on what the criminal has his/her mind set on when confronted.Through out my life I have seen blacks kill whites while either robbing them, drugs deals gone bad or other reasons, the end result... not rioting by whites, but rioting by blacks because mamma's baby is a good baby and the whites have lied.I have had some pretty impressive friends that were black and were treated like family so no one can play the racist card when I say I am sick of certain classes of blacks always throwing the racist card in the air when one of theirs is killed for being a criminal. What most dont realize is that around 95 % of black fatalities are from other blacks, and they are ok with that??? I think this is stupid and that the people of Ferguson are only looking for a reason to loot and pillage as they usually always do, and this is being copied around the states as well.Racism will never end here as long as it offers blacks the chance to get free stuff and take stabs at other races (not only Caucasians).

I am getting them from watching daily events over a number of years. One constantly sees it in the news all the time, like the black family who sued a white family for what the white families ancestors did to the black families ancestors back in the days of slavery, like the black musicians who sued Michael Bolton for supposedly stealing a song from a black person, like the countless brainless antics of blacks almost every day crying because some white fool did this to them or that to them...a daily thing if you open your eyes. I had never seen a black person until I was in basic, did not know how to address them, sure I had seen them on TV and all but never in person. I saw a group of blacks standing in a group, went over, got in front of the biggest one there and calmly asked "what do I call you??" There seemed to be a thousand year pause and every one looked at each other and slowly moved away from myself and the huge black kid.I thought "ok , what now?he studied me for a moment not moving, then, a huge smile filled his face and you could hear a few of the others say something to the effect of "THIS cracker fool done did it now". He put a hand on my shoulder and told me to walk with him, we ended up behind one of the buildings out of sight of everyone except his friends in tow. He turned to me and asked if I was serious and I said "yes sir, I have only seen negros on tv" after staring at me for many minutes, his huge arm muscles pulsing as he tensed and released for what seemed like eternity. Finally he said " Glenn , your alright!! we prefer to be called Black, nothing else but black. In your case you can call me brother and if anyone ever gives you trouble you come see me and Ill set them straight".we went on to form a friendship that lasted for the next 4 years and even his friends would ask me to hang with them. I learned a lot from this awesome person I had the privilege and honor of serving with. This opened up the door to many black friends through out my life.I see good and bad from both sides.

Sgt Michael Glenn that is the type of attitude that has to change. Yes there are violent crimes that cross racial lines, but those are most of the small percentage of the violent crimes that happen. The odds are greater of being raped, robbed, stabbed, or killed from someone of your own race. Any time when a crime likes this crosses racial lines everyone closes their minds and quit thinking critically of the situation at hand. I don't personally know either of the victims in this case. Yes, they are clearly victims in this case. For one whatever reason their paths crossed at that moment in time. Do I think Michael Brown family think it was sweet loving kid. Yes, I don't doubt for minute he was, but I do believe they, or someone purge his social media accounts, to present him as they believe, absolutely. Do I think Officer Wilson, with all of training, and what, is does he have sorrow and remorse. What human wouldn't have after taking another life. Now who was right and who was wrong, we will never know the full the truth because there was no video of it, all we have are 'eye witnesses' and Officer Wilson side of the story. Regardless a grand jury found they didn't have enough evidence to charge him. Enough said, we have to live with that, now the Browns can go for civil lawsuit if they want. That is their choice, we still have to believe in the system, if it is broken, then we need to sit down and fix it, not destroy others property.

Uhmmm , how does my attitude have to change??? I am not racist and have even said I have blacks as friends who are like family to me??? This is in no way racist.Do I think Brown was wrong...yes I do.. he should not have stolen in the 1st place, do I think the officer was wrong, I cannot answer this as I wasnt there and there are too many conflicting stories to actually say. Do I find this sad...yes I do, the loss of life is sad no matter how one looks at it and it should not be in my opinion. where is this attitude in need of change Pv2 Shaull?? I thank you for your opinion and respect it too.

Our nation is not broken over this, it has been broken ever since the civil war that ended slavery. Blacks are not the minority any longer but still hide behind laws to protect them and their heritage, I feel its time that racism is abolished on both sides, but fear that as long as blacks continue to always play the race card and throw it in everyone face it will never end, when was the last time you saw whites riot like this or at any level because a black killed a white??? It may have happened but you will be hard pressed to find a situation JUST like the Ferguson case because it just doesnt happen that much.

Education of events of this nature and the desire to move forward. If we sit here and play the blame game, we are either stuck in neutral or moving backwards. As a military member, I believe that rising above the talk is the best we can do. This subject isn't one that can be explained away by platitudes and we shouldn't pretend that we have the answers. Move forward the best way we can and if you are able to help someone else in the process through education, then grab that opportunity.

I don't think we will move forward or heal. events like Ferguson happen way more often than people want to believe. The media chooses which stories to target, causing communities to feel the need to react. I will never understand the need to protest by committing crimes and destroying your community.

I wouldn't want to be part of the MOARNG that was activated by the Governor. Talk about having to defend a stinky grand jury decision. The Soldier's ultimate moral dilemma

1SG Michael Blount - The day after the grand jury gave their decision there was a lawyer on the news here in D.C. he explained what the grand jury was, how it worked, what should or should not be presented and in the end he said this: "The grand jury should only be presented with evidence against the defendant because their job is to decide if there is probable cause. Probable cause is easy to demonstrate and only 9 out of the 12 jurors need to agree that there is probable cause." During the trail the defendant must be found guilty by all 12 jurors beyond the shadow of a doubt much more difficult. He said the grand jury should have found reasonable doubt, however the defendant in this case should have never been brought up on charges due to the evidence in his favor. Oh BTW the lawyer identified himself as a black man.

1SG Blount- your comment makes it sound as if you want a Kangaroo Court for Officer Wilson rather than due process of law. The Grand Jury is part of the "due process" and they did not find sufficient probable cause to move forward. The Grand Jury heard all the witnesses and was presented with ALL the evidence. Unless you were directly involved with this process, you have yet to see all the evidence or read all the witness statements- so how could you come to the conclusion that they got it wrong? Just because Officer Wilson is white and Michael Brown was black DOES NOT mean that Officer Wilson is automatically a racist. It does not mean that he is not afforded due process of law. There is zero moral dilemma here- unless you have a preconceived notion (based on zero facts) that Officer Wilson is guilty of a crime. The FACTS, as presented to the Grand Jury, were used to determine that there was not sufficient evidence to support your position. So, what do you base your "stinky decision" comment upon?

SSG Williams, I was referring to 1Sg Blounts comment where he said just what I wrote. I agree with you 100 % that things get too out of hand when people throw the race card in when it shouldnt be. to include Michael 's parents and friends. Its another tragic shooting that will never be fully investigated or all the facts brought to lite.I respect your thoughts and views.

1Sg Blounts you have been in the military enough where you should know better to make a comment about any fellow troops like that. Regardless, we all serve, period. Just because you don't agree with an order, doesn't mean you ignore an order. Unless it unlawful, you still have to carry it out like all other orders given to you by those in your chain of command. It tragic enough, where we don't need current and former service members not standing behind our own brothers and sister who are now standing in harms way, because our own elected President, and his friends want to use the Race Card again. That is the real issue all these shootings are about, is that it gives a segment of the population time to play it and get the spot light, and get everyone mind off more important issues at hand. Such ISIS/ISIL and what is happening between Russia and the Urkraine. Sorry, you feel that Officer Wilson should of been prosecuted, odds are he probably would walk with a trial. We have to accept now the Grand Jury did their job. Once this is over with, we need to as Nation to take a hard look at ourselves. Everyone needs to do some soul searching, we need to figure out how can be 40+ years removed when the movement were marching almost daily for their basic rights and freedoms. To now where it seems everything the shooting that crosses racial lines, it still brings out this racist violence.

I am sure you have been in long enough where you have seen it first hand, had to deal with it in the Army. So why would want to wish it to happen outside of it, it doesn't make sense. We need to stop within and outside of the military, you should realize as much as anyone else you have to take responsibility for your comments. How do think others are suppose to respect you now after seeing this post, if you still serving. They may respect your rank, but I would say they probably lost the respect of the man in the uniform.
