Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

This would not have happened when I was in the militsry. There was respect for rank and position. If a E4 team leader told you to do something it was done. No questions asked
Don't know what's going on today but if this is a issue they are facing in the militsry they have some serious issues

I would tell the E2 it is his/her choice but if the person chooses to not do as told then the whole platoon will be doing a great deal of extra PT while this E2 gets to sit and watch. I don't think that E2 will want to take the heat the rest of the platoon is going to share with him/her.

Hahaha I love the cpl's way of dealing with it. That's how I would have dealt a situation with my grandkids. We all know what needs to be done. But I guess you have to be sweet about it. So you drop him till your done doing what needs to be done and dismiss everyone except him let him keep pushing while you chat with him about what's going on. If his wife did cheat or a parent or family member died or maybe he's got cancer. Explain to him it's part of life and he needs to carry on. When he agrees with you and apologies then let him up. If he don't apologise let him push.

I would walk up to him and in a professional low voice and say to him, "Let's talk after formation" and find out what the problem is. Then after that is said and done, I'll teach him about not only did he embarrass me he also made an ass out of himself in front of others and also teach him the value and good character of mutual respect and following orders without question. If that doesn't work and he does it again, I will take appropriate UCMJ action. I will also remind him of the oath he took when he rose his right hand and if he doesn't remember, I will take a copy of that and tell him to read it again, to show that a brain fart is not acceptable.

I would say exactly this in the squad formation "I am talking to the E4 mafia, I do not want to know who you are, however this PV2 need to be fixed real fast or I will be volunteering the squad as much as I can for every little thing that comes up, for visibility purposes of course, to include additional PT for anyone not quite up the the company standard"

Let the E4 mafia handle this in the most efficient way possible. I can guarantee you that PV2 will be shitting his pants.
