Here's the background. You're a senior E5. Your troops are in formation and you're handing out work for the day. You hand out an assignment to a fresh E2 with less than a year in and only a few months at your command. They blatantly complain and tell you to choose someone else. You calmly tell them they will do this task and they tell you to shove it and give it to someone else. How do you react?

Cant believe the question is even being asked?....back in the day...any day back then......he'd have his ass handed to him. I issued a a couple cracks to one in my Platoon after he told me to Fk off after I asked him to assist another Marine moving gear, and to think I was actually pretty nice to the boot..(can you believe it) bastard (Kid you not) ran to the SgtMajors office and bitched, he didn't go to the Plt Sgt., or Company Gunny, he went straight to the SgtMaj.......SgtMaj stepped outta the office into the street screaming my name....next I'm locked and cocked in front of his desk..SgtMaj yells at me: "Sgt. Why are you thumping my Marines" I reply back: "SgtMaj he is an lazy disrespectful piece of shit bastard" SgtMaj looks at me....yells at me "No MORE!" and dismisses me. Shitbird is standing off to the side with his mouth agape.....SgtMaj closes the door behind me....all I hear is that shit bird gettting thumped by the SgtMaj as I walk down the hall....he returns to the Platoon, now the Company Gunny is screaming for him.......A fricking huge Samoan Chief Marine Comapany Gunny!....kid walks over to the Company Gunnys office like he's walking to the Gallows...the whole platoon is doing the knife across the throat gesture to him even the LT does it. Needless to say the kid walked outta the company Gunny's office properly thumped AGAIN!!!.......This is the best part, that kid retired from the Marine Corps a few years back a decorated highly respected cambat vet.

Immediate court martial. No more questions asked. If the E-2 doesn't disobey now, he will certainly do the same in combat and get others killed because of his insubordination. Also issue him an UNDESIRABLE DISCHARGED from the Marine Corps and that will follow him for the rest of his life.

As a young PV2, I was dumb enough to do that very thing to an E-5. I had extra duty for a month. I deserved every single second of it. I learned my lesson, recovered, became an NCO, and when that same thing happened to me, I handled it the same way. I worked with my PSG, worked out an extra duty schedule, had it approved by the 1SG, and then went to him, told him the error of his ways, and that if he had any complaints to please see the PSG. That guy retired about five years ago as an E-7.
To this day, I am friends with the very NCO that I smarted off to many years ago.

Sounds like a spoiled brat that needs to paint, do yard work, pick up trash, spend time scrubbing a shower with a toothbrush, etc. if the pv2 has a problem with working or training then the snowflake can go up the chain of command.
