I was originally aiming at an 11x opt. 40 with the army, but now I wonder if I should try for something else. It still sounds awesome and I’m at the age where it may be my last chance to try it, but I did not expect to get my score. I want to follow my family tradition of combat arms as I will be at minimum a 4th generation army member if I choose this branch, but now I am wondering if I should have talked to other branches about more technical jobs. Is pursuing my family tradition of combat MOS at least once worth it? Will these scores follow me into my next Re-up if I choose to change jobs/branches after I try my original plan? I am excited but also now struggling to choose. I go to MEPS in two weeks for my physical and oath, do they also offer you jobs from other branches in addition to what you’ve reserved when you sit down with them? Do you think I’ll be given an opportunity for OCS in my contract with my scores? Thank you for your input and knowledge, I put my scores at the bottom for reference to the above questions and for any insight you may have in using them to my advantage.

You say you have a Bachelors Degree, so go for OCS. If you have a strong Army tradition in your family, then try for Army OCS. You can probably Branch select to one of the Combat arms. As an officer you will be paid more and offered early opportunities to lead Soldiers developing important leadership and management capabilities.

However, if the family tradition isn't overarching, then talk to an officer recruiter from all 5 armed services. Pick the Service that gives you be best deal in terms of accession date, follow-on training or school, and selection for an MOS/AFSC that is likely to lead to a post-service employment opportunity.

Do what you want to while you’re still young enough to! Nothing wrong with any 11 series MOS...or any other MOS, for that matter. Every MOS is serving your country. Just out of curiosity - what is your BS in? Perhaps pick an MOS that will align with your education?
