The ongoing civil unrest has culminated in storming the once 'green zone' walls that now protect the current government facilities. If the current government losses it's grip how do you think that will impact Iraq, the region, and ISIS.

How would one be able to tell the difference from the normal chaos there now?

Good thing I don't drink coffee. I would have snorted it out my nose all over the computer. Great point. That area has been a mess for thousands of years. I really can't picture much changing (soon anyway) that would make a difference.

The idiots who rule our country are clueless. Since Korea the military have been winning our wars while the politicians have been losing them.

GySgt Duane DaVein, well said! We keep electing liberals after the war is won, and they promptly throw all the gains away.

Greetings,
Arab Spring? What a stinking joke in words. Arab holiday of bloodshed is more accurate.
In Syria, the minority group ruled the majority. It appears the majority are Sunni. The Sunni, with help from whom, started a civil war. American tax monies appear to be helping in it.
Libya, a crazy self made COL, with Amazons for bodyguards, sold oil and gave up his chemical weapons. But, he turned down NATO's request, offered by Hillary, to be on CitiBanks board. A 35 billion dollar board seat. He refused the gold and got the lead.
Egypt. A 30 year ally was betrayed and Morsi came in only to be overthrown by General Sisi. Wasn't Morsi a Muslim Brotherhood Grand Wizard? Or, Grand Cyclops?
Before I write about Iraq and without mentioning North Africa, the chaos caused by the so called Arab Spring did what? How many died trying to cross the ocean to Greece and Italy? How many walked from Syria to Turkey? A mass migration of those who have no concept of a Constitution, or western culture. More chaos? A new civilization in Europe by force?
The current American administration appears to have spent a lot of time with Muslim Brotherhood types. If a new region was desired to be made with the Muslim Brotherhood pulling the strings, you couldn't ask for a better bunch of examples.
The cry, the majority should have their rights is propaganda. Islam will have it's Shari law.
What about Iraq? What a FUBAR! Now, we can discuss how the Shiia of Iraq, Iran and Syria are lined. Russia? But, I don't want to waste any more of your time. What a rotten mess the ME is. American blood and America treasure being used in a Middle East war to bring about what? Two Caliphates and a reborn Europe out of the ashes?
I have made my innuendo.

Sir you are exactly correct. I am totally baffled by what is going on now. It seems like we have a Commander and Chief who hates his country and appoints fools whose only job is to damage this country in every way possible. Hillary?

I do not think it would matter where the Arib Spring happens over there, because it is know good to the region. What I do not like is when our Politicians use us vets to go and fight to stop this group or that group and than you get a different President come in who does not support what we are doing and pull us out just to have to go back again and do the same dame thing over and over. Our leaders have no regard for the vets who lost there lives and limbs to fight for these people only to turn there backs on us when we need help. I want to see us go in kick ass and come home. Let the UN do the rebuilding after we leave. Screw the appeasement of the other countries. I did my tour over there, and I know that know matter what we do there will never be peace over there. We need to take care of home first and make sure we keep out the crazes from our Country. If we have to go fight, give us what we need to get the job done, so we do not have to keep going back and forth loosing to many lives for these screwed up people in DC. Hell you can see we give weapons and train them and when we leave, These chicken shits throw down there weapons and run, and the weapons end up in the hands of the enemies. WTF!!! is up with that. If they cant stand up and fight for there way of life why schooled we. This issue really upsets me about what is going on. Obama is the biggest reason for what is going on over there. He is the head of this Muslim up rising . He wants to bring America down to its knees. I have never seen any President get away with the things that he has done. I can't talk about this any more because I get so dam mad! I SUPPORT MY BROTHERS !!!

I feel your anger - thus the post. We seem conflicted in our approach - what's best for America vs. what's best for the region. We're constantly redrawing lines in the sand only to have them rub out by some sandal cladded flavor of the day ideology. The inability to curb the extremist ideology is prevalent which leads to the systemic outflow of black flag terrorists organizations. Like you I don't see a reasonable fix for this until the sunni's and shia's quit bashing in each others skulls. The problem with this region is the sand - it can soak up a lot of blood.

Other than Tunisia these Arab Springs haven't turned out so well and even in the Tunisia Daesh Libya wants to put the Cabash on their new found freedoms.

I wish them luck and progress can sometimes be an ugly, violent, long process but our Revolution didn't turn out half bad.

Anytime there is this kind of unrest, it just opens up the doors to invaders. With the Iraq people distracted, ISIL can just walk right in. I wonder who stirred up the unrest? Looks like classic baiting techniques.

An Arab Spring in Iraq would simply create another power vacuum for extremists like ISIS to exploit. Look what an abysmal failure the Arab Spring has been everywhere else in the Middle East (except maybe Tunisia, and even there the situation is less than optimal).

I must confess I have selfish reasons for not wanting an Arab Spring in Iraq: the current contract assignment I'm working on is a security contract with the Iraqi government. I enjoy both the job itself and especially the big tax-free salary and don't particularly relish the prospect of having these things jeopardized.

Iraq is comprised of three disparate groups of people -- Sunni Kurds in the North, who are semi autonomous, Shia Arabs in the South, who control the central government and are supported by the US and friendly with Iran, Sunni Arabs in the West, who have lost much influence, power, and economic status since Saddam Hussein was overthrown. Many of the Sunni Arabs in the West support Islamic State, which believes the Shia Muslims controlling the government are heretics and should be killed. So, first of all, it's hard to imagine any kind of "Arab Spring" and if there was one, it would weaken the Shia Central Government and strengthen the position of Islamic State in the west, as well as the autonomy of the Kurds in the North.

The Arab Spring is a journalists idea of a fresh new beginning but in reality it is the beginning of chaos in which the elements of some kind of order other than terrorists must take control. Look at Libya for an example.
