If my unit is deploying within 9 months of my ETS, can they put a stop-loss on me?

I'm ETS in September 2018 and my unit is deploying 9 months before my ETS date would I fall under Stop loss or could I continue with my transition procedures?

There is a MILPER out about this. In short, if your ETS falls within the first half of the deployment, you do not deploy. If your ETS falls after the midpoint of the deployment, you can deploy, but you redeploy early in order to transition out.

Thank you. I'll look it up in HHC MILPER message section. The more information the better.

Stop LOSS went away years ago...Stop MOVE is possible depending on the deployment/rotation.

Enjoy the extra pay and such before getting out. When you get back you will have a good nest egg to start out civilian life with.

I wished it was like that when I'm currently the sole supporter of 3 at home. I do my savings everything that I have deployed tho. But now the family is bigger. We'll see!

SSG(P) (Join to see) - My understanding is you are suppose to have a family care plan on file, unless things have changed since I was in. Right now I don't see the Op Tempo so high that stop lose is in effect. Most likely you will deploy, then return on time. Just my opinion.

From what I recall, stop loss is by unit, not individual.
And if someone tells you there is a stop loss, ask to see the order.
It will be an order. If they don't have it, it doesn't exist.

SGT Dave Tracy
CSM David Heidke - Well as much as I enjoy telling guys to cut their hair...
LOL!!
Oh I thought about staying in, but sometimes one just knows when a chapter in life is due to close. We all have our own paths to walk.
I was most tempted to stay when my former company commander lobbied me real hard for several hundred miles coming back from AT a couple years ago (we're a trans company) not to just stay in, but do the direct commission route. I won't lie, I was temped, but I preferred being an NCO, and I knew I'd be ready to move on from this part of my life.

SGT Dave Tracy - well, I started as Military Police, then went Drill Sergeant, then the institutional route... A lot of variety. It's tougher if you want to stay in your job and expect to be fulfilled. Either you love it to death or you'll want it to end. There are hundreds of jobs in the Army. Try a different one.

CSM David Heidke - I've loved both the Infantry and Trans--and I'll miss not only the jobs, but the Army itself--but it is my time.

I responded yesterday from my phone but it seems the post did not finish and make it though..
Others have hit the nail on the head... This is not in an AR, but in a DA message ..of which my knowledge of is now 2 years old and likely outdated.. BUT there will be a current message that shows times lines for eligibility to deploy, and times lines that require the unit to NOT deploy and or return the member to the departing Home duty station.

You could fall into the stop loss if you get pulled for deployment. I was a month away from my ETS date when my unit deployed and sure enough I got my lovely orders and was in the stop loss and it extended my time.
