If I could magically stick to my resolutions, (New Years or other) I'd be 10 Pounds lighter and have a much lower A1C. Now it's a ongoing process to do things I should, I'm retired, I don't have to do it right now!

I am trying to reach out to one of my former military buddies every single day. Phone calls, e-mails, postcards, and visits to the ones close by. I have a list of 50 that I want to reach out to. A different one each day just to make sure that they get the emotional support that we all obviously need. There are way too many suicides. We have got to support each other.

My Resolution I want to stick with is Saving and not to continue putting myself in debt or stressful money situations. To feel comfortable knowing that I have money in my savings and not be living check by check even when times get tough.

My new year resolution is to complete all the projects in my house that need to be completed, and some of the jobs have been in progress for years! I just need to focus and finish them and just suck up the pain and finish them because I can't afford to pay a contractor to do them for me.

I need to cut down on chocolate. Not that I eat a lot of it but I shouldn’t really eat it as I’m a Diabetic. I get in the mood for something anything and then I can eat that and basically only that for a long time…a week a month IDK how long it will last. It can be chef salad, steak, cereal, Milky Way bars, etc. But since I’m diabetic I need to stop the Milky Way Bars and any cereal that’s sugary.

I'd like to finally finish my VA claim.. something always comes up: work, life, or the agency doesn't help (that's you American Legion). When I first got out, I was naive and thought that by submitting my claim I would not be able to go back and serve on active or reserve. I don't even know anymore if I really want to bother with it.. but I'm sure one day (hopefully) it'll be out of the way.

Hey Sarge! grab yourself by the balls and get to the VFW or DAV. They have been extremely helpful over the past 2 yrs and the system(VA) has changed a lot. I was Vietnam Navy and started claims back in 1990 and just recently got what I should have when I got out in 1968 thanks to Trump cleaning up the VA....DO IT! The government/country owes us.

I'm sure you're right. Someone had recommended AmVets, another said he went right through VA with no problem. I just find the process so tedious.. Thanks!

To loose weight I am currently approximately 100 pounds over what I should be. If I could loose the weight I feel my overall health would be better. My knees would not have so much to lift, BP would come down, and I would be able to walk more than I can now. Not to mention my self worth would increase greatly. I was medicated due a neck injury and nerve damage to my right side so I know I will always have pain and problems but if I could get rid of the weight at least I might be a little happier

Easy-I have been doing this for years, little things for people I don't know. As simple as allowing them into my lane, opening a door for someone, thanking a vet, helping to carry a heavy load, donating time to help someone less fortunate. Tomorrow I am bringing a W2 that was delivered to my house for a person who used to live here, they don't have a car so I will drive it to them.
Edit: W2 delivered-person said "not many would do this". Have another w2 to get to proper person Saturday.

Mine isn't a resolution, but it is a must. I am not sure how I am going to accomplish this yet, but I need to raise about 2 thousand so I can pay some mandatory fees that comes with closing a deal on a house I am wanting to buy for myself and my wife. I am 100% disabled and unable to work aside from my spiritual guidance courses I have offered I am totally dependant on VA disability. So, I will succeed I am just not positive as to when. Once I have the funds I need I will then concern myself with other issues like weight loss, and potential proceedures for my back pain. If I won the gift card it could go a long way to getting myself situated once I am able to get to the point where I am able to move.

Another must of mine is to continue to be a thorn in the side of my VA hospital until I, and every other Veteran is treated with the kindness and respect we deserve no matter the situation we bring them. I will soon be on my 7th PCP at my local VA hospital, and have had the same issue of disrespect and the PCPs refusing to treat or even respond to potentially very serious medical issues each time. If anyone is in need of spiritual guidance or help please reach out. I am an ordained High Priest and will help any of my brother and sisters in anyway I am able.

I would like to quit smoking as I started smoking when I was very young, around 12 was when I first tried cigarettes and was smoking regularly by the age of 16 and now I am 36 and smoking 1-2 packs a day. I’d like to set a better example for my kids as smoking is an awful addiction. I’ve already started getting counseling, medications, and lozenges/patches and am developing coping strategies to try and get my habit under control but it is just a very difficult thing for me to give up as I live a stressful life working and going to school full time and as soon as I get stressed cigarettes are my go to for stress relief and when I can’t have one I can be a real asshole. I’m giving this my full effort and I just want to be successful with this one thing as I know if I succeed it will help me overcome other obstacles in my life and pursue positive life changes that will help me live a more fulfilling and happier life.

Never made many resolutions for the new year. Did think about tho things I should or not have done or changed if had an opportunity to do different.
Saying that I guess I have had more than I thought .
So mine would be to keep trying to get my va clam sent again. Tryed 3 times ptsd in my mind and on paper. Filed twice for ptsd denided. Once for knee, back, sholder, finger.
Denided 52 jumps with 82 airborne, British jump wings didn't even see in my records. And had me down like 23 jumps not on record either.
Back to point ..
Reason I dident file in 1977 - 1983 I felt others needed it more than I. So just lived with the body and mental pain's. After many years I talked to a few vets along the way . I was surprised at how many lied about their stuff to get moneys ..Gov check.. one caught crabes off post doing the wild thing, told em when he filed a claim another enlisted man he coucht suck him .his lie got him 100%. I'm not really that type .
I finally put in clam because I need it .lived with my pain delt with it with self medication. Tryed to drink it all away for year after new year. Couldn't stop after that as the pains increases.
After all my losses I tryed to ..take myself out.. 6days coma. The hospital just let me walk out..not much longer going to same again tryed again just5 days intensive care, won't ever try pills again. Went through some programs that the va offered it helped..thank GOD!
I'll be 63 July and the only way I surive is work . I dont work I dont survive I've got to work harder than most to make sure i keep a job.. im in perty good shape construction work for 25plus years like going to the gym everyday. Yea I hurt all over .few years ago couldn't sleep because of my dreams (and you know )!! Now I cant sleep because of my pains.. at the point of heating up plastic bottle to boiling point PLACING AT CURTAIN POINTS ON MY JOINTS
live idk what I'm going to do in the next few years to keep going on. So my response to your question is..I WILL KEEP ON TRYING.....

My resolution is that I won’t automatically so No as soon as someone asks me to do something or go somewhere. I will consider whatever it is before I answer and if it makes my family happy or they really want me to go or do something I will seriously consider saying yes as long as it doesn’t put me at risk. I’ve been saying No for a while now and I believe it’s become an auto-response. I will be better at it this year!
