In recognition of Memorial Day, which of the 5 branch songs, OTHER THAN YOUR OWN, is the overall best - lyrics, melody, rhythm, etc?

No problem..
I was in the Army but I learned The Halls of Montezuma when I was in elementary school and it kicks ass. I have often wished that I joined them instead, but my dad was in the Army, so I followed his lead.

My 4 and 5 grade teacher, who later became a music specialist, taught us the Halls of Montezuma, the only military song we sang!

Sorry MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca, I'd have to say it's the Marines’ Hymn all the way! Semper Fi!

Wow there are a lot of new stars being flashed around in this thread. Congratulation? Or should that be, "better you than me"?

I'm not bias or anything for that matter, but I'd go with my Marine Corps first, then Navy, Air Force, Army of the U.S. Last but not least is the Coast Guard.
Semper Fidelis,
James

Father, AUS (Ret), Father-In-Law, US Navy, (Ret), Wife, USAF, Veteran, Sister-In-Law, AUS, Veteran. I think we covered all the bases except Coast Guard.

I'm with GySgt Wayne A. Ekblad on this one. I will cast a vote for the second best hymn. My opinion is the Air Force. Great melody and lyrics plus my Dad was career AF so that is a head nod to him too.

The USAF song is a great choice. I really enjoyed singing "Junior Birdmen" at scout camp...
