So there I was in college, before I knew anything about the military other than my psycho boyfriend was a truck driver in the Army. I'll never forget he sent me a rude text to which I replied with some sarcastic remark. He responded with "you're so stupud"...I remember thinking "wow...good thing he's in the Army".
Haha and here I am...a dang 'stupud' Staff Sergeant lol

Intelligence is funny in itself, but illiteracy? Not so much as all the wonderful smart ones out there in college! I do know many who cannot spell and have these prejudice thoughts about those who serve. Oh well, gonna drive on just like I did today.

There's more life experience and global experience in an 18 year old boot that knows they're likely to deploy than in some 22 year old College Senior that has spent their 4 years in college, in some cases you'll find more experience in that boot than you will in the lives of many professors who spent their entire lives in academia.
There's an old saying there are those that can and do, and those that can't teach. I actually had one professor in the early 2000's comment that their bad day was due to President Bush, another that was supposed to teach US Government and all she did was spend every lecture commenting on how Europe was superior to the United States.
The military isn't for everyone, but when it comes to academics that have no world experience, I take their "intelligence" with a grain of salt, and keep in mind that they've never been anywhere, done anything, and probably would be in trouble if they were forced into the real world.

I would like to see how she does on the Mechanical Translation Section of the ASVAB, I aced it and got the privilege of working with the Trend Setters in the Computer Age. If RADM Gracie Hopper was still around she would have been more that happy to join in with this Fine Marine!

The military has standards, an requires a minimum aptitude score to join,
I've seen people try to join and bomb the ASVAB.
We have our share of knuckleheads, but overall i would like to say the military has a higher rate of literacy and intelligence.
I'm doing my part to bring the average scores up... GT score of 141.

True story, I was taking some classes to learn Arabic, prior my second deployment, and came across one of those drives to protest war. There was this white jewish (Rosenthal) female professor collecting firms. I started talking to them as a group. Well, I told them they would not get my signature as I was all in agreement to take the fight to these muslim terrorists. She tried to berate me, telling me how I knew nothing. So I did listen, and asked for an opportunity to rebut her statements. I told her that it was an irony that she is defending the cause of Al-Qaeda, and the Palestinians, as she was a real target, show her the pictures and videos on my phone, on what they do to women there, and asked her if she is ok with all that. Watching her face go red as she had no comeback was priceless. Yes, I find Academia, and mostly all the feminists in colleges in our country completely divorced on what goes on over there. The end.

This "Miley Hayes" obviously has led a very shut in life. "Too dumb to go to college"? Who in the hell does she think she is? The military has some of the best educated people in the world, plus their military skills and schools, not to even mention experience, put them at the top of the educational food chain. This girl better come out of her cave, look around, and realize she would not even be able to say such things if it were not for us, our intelligence, and willingness to defend her right to do it. . The stupidity of some "smart?" people really amazes me and to claim to know so much when they know so little.
