The article might be inflammatory, but the ethics opinion is real.

The article, I believe misread the opinion. The opinion did not make it legal to use prostitutes in any way. The opinion simply states that consensual sex is not reportable unless a lobbying firm actually pays a lobbyist to use a prostitute to influence a lawmaker.

CW5 Jim Steddum. I have never hear it called "goodwill lobbying" before . . . more like "pity sex" . . . wonder whether it covers call boys . . . and whether it applies to straight sex only . . . or may also cover LGBTI sex . . . or "furries" . . . or BDSM . . . or even The Story of "O" / 50 Shades of Gray arrangements? Warmest Regards, Sandy

Good will lobbying in these circumstances should be grounds for impeachment, recall, or at least a loss at the next election.

If true, the North Carolina won't have any more sex scandal problems. Maybe Washington D.C. should follow suit. Hey, Obama, use one of your Executive Orders and get with the program!!

SGT Jim Zajc, I really doubted it was real, that's why I started my post as I did. But if D.C. did it, then maybe more time could be focused on real problems.

I can't find anything else mentioned on it....which seems strange. "Addictinginfo" looks like it was established in 2010, and from perusing the site....I would give SLIGHTLY more credibility to the site than National Enquirer, but perhaps less than US Weekly.
I'll look more in the morning, but I definitely don't think that anyone could VALIDLY be so stupid to risk their job by saying "Getting a handjob from a lobbying 'referral' is an acceptable gift, since it has no monetary value."
Even if it does, I'm sure such a decision would very rapidly be challenged by a lobbying group for the OPPOSING side, or from an irate representative's spouse when she finds her husband (or wife if rep is a female) coming home "too tired" every night.

May not be true about NC law, but it happens all over the country and the world. Almost Everybody pays with sex to get someone on their side. If that wasn't bad enough now we're finding top State department officials are in child trafficking both here and overseas!! Lord help us all.

This article is about lobbying and reporting of "things of value and it does not say that call girls are legal just not required to be reported as a thing of value because they don't put a monetary value on sex.

From the article:
"Lobbying is a practice which needs to end for the good of the republic."
Anytime someone says this, I have a hard time listening to the rest of their article because I make the assumption they are completely uninformed about anything else. This is directed at the writer of the article.
Lobbying, is nothing more than talking to your elected representative. Period. Anyone who objects to Lobbying, is ignorant to what it is, and needs a thorough education on the US political process. The fact that the article calls for an end to Lobbying, means that it is a rag, and likely the fact checking is non-existent. I would be very cautious about taking any of its statements at face value.
