This is the reason the no-fly list is a poor guide for gun purchasing; it takes forever to correct mistakes and the penalties can be severe.

Sgt Spencer Sikder as other have noted, we can't really know what the full story is. But even without the story, the problem is the No-Fly list itself, which is broken.

The list is a tool of political payback. You are not notified when you are put on it. No one has to tell you who put you on it or why. No one has to tell you how to get off the list. The list is just names, no SSN, no picture, often no description.

To fix this, if you are placed on the list you should be told. You should also be told how to get off the list. The person who put you on the list should be identifiable, so that those using it for political reason face the music for their actions. People on the list should be well enough identified to prevent someone from being denied because of similar name.
