On my ASU All Weather Coat/Overcoat, do I wear E-5 shoulder boards or pin on rank?

According to AR 670-1, uniforms and insignia, on that all weather coat the rank insignia must be the NON subdued metal type pins only and worn on the collar of the jacket. Only Commissioned and Warrant Officers will wear that rank insignia on the shoulders and then the metal not Subdued. That jacket can be worn with civilian attire but the rank insignia must be removed in that event.
The entire Army Regulation is available online for reading and reproduction if You need it for that purpose.

You are absolutely right Colonel. Remember the "Vile" green Velcro PILE CAP of the 70's and 80's?

LTC Stephen C. - Even in the Air Force In 1966 I was issued the old horse blanket wool overcoat with two rows of buttons The last time I wore that one though I had only one stripe. Its still hanging in the attic of My parents house.

1SG Dave Carello - The green belted overcoat was a fine coat and it looked great. The raincoat on the other hand looked good, but was worthless. When it rained you got soaked.

MSG Louis Alexander - I know what You mean about the raincoat, the Air Force had a dark blue raincoat that was the same as the Army raincoat except the color being black. We sure did get soaked in that raincoat when it rained.

Yes you wear shoulder marks on the black all weather coat. Disregard the responses from people who are saying you wear non-subdued pin on rank, things change. CPL and above wear shoulder marks on....... Although I retired 4 years ago, I still no how to look shit up. DA Pam 670-1 May 2017- Shoulder marks, look it up

Hello. Thank you for the information. Since the Type 1 A-2 Deck Coat Jacket does not have shoulder straps, how should one (Lieutenant / 03) affix the non-metal rank insignia on the shoulders? I understand insignia should be sewn 3/4 inch from each end of the shoulder line, but should the insignia be sewn centerline in the top or sewn a tad forward for better visibility, as in the placement of the shoulder boards?
Thank you,
Mike
Thank you,
Mike

According to da Pam 670-1 2015 (attached is the screen shot) officers will wear non subdued pin on rank on shoulders, nco a will wear shoulder marks on shoulder loops and enlisted will wear non subdued pin on rank on the collar.

Some reason it’s blurry but it is chapter 20-7 and I understand this was asked a year ago.

This picture I took while I was a cadet At Bordentown Military Institute, Bordentown, NJ back in the early 1960s of our Commandant of Cadets, Colonel John S. Roosma. Notice the older style Army overcoat of that time period. Colonel Roosma was a graduate of USMA, West Point.
