The end of era is upon us, the Army has awarded a contract to Oshkosh for the replacement of the HUVEE.

On a personal note I am glad to see GM did not get selected nor did Lockheed Martin. How many trucks does Lockheed build? I don't recall seeing too many with that name badge. GM, IMHO has had reliability issue with the HUMVEE Family since the day the first one came off the assembly line. Quality was never a big factor to them, and it showed through out the life cycle of the product. How many of us had to deal with bad fuel injector pumps in theater, or weak suspensions, underpowered 6.2, 6.5 & 6.5T drive trains. I can recall being told that that Kevlar doors would protect from all matter of things, who easily we were fooled. I hope for the next generation of Soldiers and Marines this vehicle is a better platform!

CW3 Kevin Storm, Looks like we had the same idea by posting this news today. I have had the opportunity to drive the Oshkosh and AM General versions up here at TACOM. Very smooth ride, great space for crew and payload possibilities and of course the armor speaks for itself. I can’t wait to get a chance to manage a fleet of the JLTV’s. Soldiers should be excited by this.
