1. My compassionate reassignment is approved and report date to new duty station is
Sep 10.
2. I only have 6days leave left in my LES because finance messed up my paper work and took away 15 days on my leave still trying to fix. I want to report 60days early as possible due to my mothers health. but I don't have enough leave days to cover 60days all the way to report date.
3. I have 8 days to travel from Fort irwin to Fort drum
4. If I don't have enough leave days to cover all the way to report date from 60day mark, Can't I just use my 8 travel days to make it to fort irwin and sign in at new place?
5. what Can I do to report early? I just need to get there soon as possible.

Compassionate reassignment are always approved with a 60-day report date, with 60 days early report authorized. That allows the soldier to immediately begin clearing and leave as soon as possible.
You do not need to be on leave to use your early report. You simply add in the notes on your da 31 that you are authorized 60 days early report and indicate the day that you will be reporting in. Some posts may require that your da 31 cover up until your report date. In that case, you simply request more days than you have oh, and it would put you in the hole. Your commander is authorized to approve it. As long as you report on the day that you intend to oh, you will not go into the hole for leave.

Reassignment says that my leave days have to cover up all the way to my reporting date which is sep 10 otherwise they will reject my da31. Was he wrong? and should I just send up a da31 with the day noted on there I will be reporting in and will it go through.

Don 't worry about what the DA Form 31 says. They can give you the maximum allowed advanced leave, and then excess leave to cover you through 10 Sep. They should counsel you that excess leave is in a non-pay status, Don't sweat the counselling. When you get to Ft Drum and early report, you will only be charged with the actual number of days it takes you to get there less any authorized travel time.

You should have some "house hunting" Permissive TDY available. Used to be a week, check on that. Also, you can go in the hole on leave. Takes permission of Commander usually. Check with your unit First Sergeant. As far as having your leave balance recorded incorrectly, stay after the fix. Again your First Sergeant may be able to help.

Compassionate reassignment is approved usually with a report date 60 days from approval with 60 days ERA. Per HRC Policy Section (Had this questions the other day). The DA 31 has to go out to the report date (in your case 10 Sept). As SFC Boyd suggested, you can request Advance leave to cover the shortage, but keep in mind, that once at Ft. Drum, finance will calculate Travel Days, and Leave Days from the time you sign out, until the day you sign in.

Also, you could do as the good LTC suggested and add Permissive TDY(10 Days) to it as well, as it is Non-Chargeable (O5 is the Approval). Looking at your date of 10 September, you will be in the reporting window by 11 July.

Oh, and the reassignment guy was correct. HRC Policy. Like I stated, had that debate with them.

Finance said PTDY don't get reimburse or flat rate pay since its for house hunting. I have to travel 2700miles with POV and I cannot afford to pay as a PFC. What should I put for type of leave in my DA FORM 31? I just need 6days maximum to make it to Fort Irwin to sign in and start in-processing I don't need any breaks in between. My NCO doesn't know and I have to figure out how to correctly fill out this DA FORM 31.

1. 60 day early report is to be authorized by your commander.
2. As other have mentioned, your DA31 must carry you all the way to your report date and as long as your ETS LV Balance you can request advance leave.
3. Upon LV approval, you will sign out as you normally would. Once you arrive at your designated location Finance will deduct your travel days, PTDY (for house hunting, provided you will stay off port if at all authorized) and charge you the rest of the days as LV depending on when you sign in. So if if you sign out on July 10 and sign in July 27, you will be charged 0 leave days (provided you have PTDY authorized)
