I agree Kathy, the hypocrisy with Trump and the MAGA wing of the Republican Party is a joke! He will lose anything he endorses or runs for that we know! The sad thing is the division he strives for will remain! That is his only play, he will never gain more than 35 to 40 % of support. Unfortunately that is enough to keep our country divided!

No cool aid either Matter of fact, I witnessed today the shameful treatment of 3 honorable discharged, veterans combat experienced that were. under oath in the congressional oversight committee hearing, & their testimony was chilling to say the least. In regards to their treatment from the dictatory treat they all had received from the F.B.I., their employer. They all a horror story because they had gone to complain about unlawful acts committed by their supervisors., only to be fired from their jobs without committing any policy provision or anything, They all declared they were whistle blowers, as the laws require. Thx for your question. I do not know of a single politician, much less a single human being, that does not have skeletons in his closet. If then I believe this and then choose someone as if I am more worthy, I speak from a point of judgement. I too then will be judged. Therefore, I cannot choose anyone from a moral point of view. Instead, I must decide from a policy point of view.
Trump has made countless mistakes, and there are many things personally that irritate me about his behavior and his character. If I were to base my sole decision upon those attributes, I might vote for someone else. He has accomplished a great deal for the citizens of this country. His policies---not all of them---worked! I enjoyed better VA benefits, lower taxes, border protection, lower food costs, lower gas prices, the non-weaponization of our law enforcement and even our soldiers (I felt safer and freer).
There are no perfect candidates, and the greatest benefit we as a country experience is the freedom to think and choose as individuals. Group-think is a great tragedy: A soldier in once-Communist Romania was thrown into prison for his misdeeds alongside a pastor incarcerated for his faith. Naturally the pastor asked the soldier if he was a believer. But when the soldier replied, tears welled up in the pastor's eyes---the soldier saying, "I will believe if I have orders to believe." That is perhaps the saddest thing I have ever heard in my life---a man who was no longer able to think for himself.
I respect any man's choices if they are his, even if I may not agree with them; but a man who cannot make a choice of his own free will, is already dead in his soul.

I have said many of the same things about Trump that you did; however, I do take exception with “…non-weaponization of our law enforcement….” Both law enforcement and the military were called upon to forcefully disperse peaceful protestors during 2020.

YES he should not be allowed to run in 2024. Trump is not qualified to run for POTUS. He violated the sacred oath that we all took to “defend and protect the constitution against all enemies both foreign & domestic”. As far as I am concerned he fermented sedition by sending his minions to march on the capital and did nothing to call of his dogs if war for hours. We he did he had the audacity to claim the election had been stolen (and still does) after admitting to his closest people that he had lost.

1. This ruling cannot be retroactive as it was made in 2020. According to the Constitution, You cannot rule on or make an ex-post facto law and then prosecute those before it. In my personal opinion, Rally Point RP) is not the proper platform to discuss politics. According to Rally Point itself (About Us, 2023), "Rally Pointis the premiere digital platform for the military community to come together and discuss military topics both socially and professionally."
There is so much valuable experience in the military community that can be shared, comments, questions, and discussions should focus on military subjects. Regardless of who is the President of the United States POTUS), the military has a mission to execute. After all, POTUS is the Commander in Chief of our armed forces and deserves the respect and support of all military personnel.
If a military member chooses to discuss politics on social media, there are guidelines which must be followed. Discussing politics on social media could lead to unintended violations of directives and regulations. Even though our 1st Amendment allows freedom of speech, members of the US military are limited to what they can discuss on a social media platforms.
Yes, it is understood that there are retired military and civilian personnel that participate in the RP forum. Having a variety of of participants could further lead to inappropriate and unlawful remarks in the forum between participants.
Discussing politics is a favorite pastime and can be fun and interesting; however, there are other platforms which are more suited to the topic. In my opinion, RP should be used to discuss military topics. RP is a place to share information and experiences between professional military members, retired personnel and affiliated civilian personnel. Also, to be honest, politics can be plain out boring sometimes.
