I think it stinks that after this long the Sec of Def. can reduce someone in rank. Even if he or she is a General officer. Yes I know he was convicted of mishandling of classified material. They should have reduced him back then. Maybe we as military community should let our voices be heard.

It looks political to me. This administration held his court martial over his head for years to keep him quiet about Benghazi.

Gen Petraeus recently testified in closed session about that attack and now we see this.

Do the math.

SCPO (Join to see) - I only the 47% plus of the low-information voter population understood ANY of this, the liberal/progressives propaganda would fail-truth, freedom and justice would prevail. Trumpsters Unite 2016!

SCPO (Join to see) - Was He really an E-4 infantry Squad Leader in VN, as his bio. claims? Bn XO was on leave, Bn Commander went on emergency leave, I was on orders for three days as the Bn Cdr, but this the first time I have mentioned it. I do not claim to have commanded a battalion, even though this a true story. XO terminated his leave two days early, to get the command time and to snake me. LOL!

Downvote for name calling. Major this is not a grade-school playground. Leave the name calling off the board.

Well, then Sec. Carter should investigate Sec. Clinton, on this same basis. Both she and GEN Petraeus mishandled classified information. Am I right?

Capt Seid Waddell - Just because she says they aren't classified doesn't make it so. She is guilty of course we need to go to trial first. But she needs to be at least indicted before she has the ability to slide by.

Maj Werner Hindrichs, you are wrong. Guilt is an objective fact that occurs when the deed is done. The law must treat the accused as innocent until proven guilty, but the guilt is attached to the deed and not the trial.

It sounds to me as if you are wishing it not to be so in spite of all of the evidence of guilt that has been presented.

SFC Ernest Thurston, this is true, but with the current politicized Justice Department it is highly unlikely that she will be indicted or charged regardless of the evidence presented. Remember Fast and Furious and the IRS targeting of Obama's political enemies.

Maj Werner Saemmler-Hindrichs, it is not true that they didn't find anything; the final report is not out yet.

I won't be standing up to defend someone who mishandled classified information while having an adulterous relationship. If the SECDEF has the authority to adjust the punishment, then so be it.

Cpl Franz Buhlmann - Petraeus pleaded guilty in Charlotte on April 23, 2015. It wasn't "years ago" when the original sentence was handed out; it was "months ago". To put it into context, it was one pregnancy ago. That's not a long time in a bureaucracy the size of the DoD.

He pleaded to a misdemeanor crime and was punished. I do believe this all came about after his retirement. If his behaviors or acts occurred while he was on AD, let the chips fall as appropriate. Now if he was misbehaving as a retired Soldier and political appointee the civilian side needs to step up. I do recall GEN Franks being reprimanded for allowing his wife to be present during classified briefings on aircraft while traveling with him. I think this is a club that the POS in the White House is hanging over his head until Hillary loses the election..........If you lay down with dogs you get fleas, he should never have joined OBozo's clique after he retired! Just the $.02 of a bitter man clinging to his guns and Bible!

SPC James Harsh - and you base that statement on what evidence? The man violated his oath, and had an affair - committed adultery - which is a violation of the UCMJ and yet he is "more of a patriot then most everyone on RP" - so by your words, a patriot is someone who violates his oath and commits a crime.
