We had a guy in our SERE class who was able to put himself in a deep meditative state during sleep deprivation and, consequently, in the box. Drove the cadre nuts. Wasn't exactly yoga but it was effective.

That is very interesting..there really is something to this...i am just learning it..adapting it...and if I would of known this a long time ago....could of would of should of...but the typical american alpha male will not see use in something that did not see in a GNC Magazine full of supplements their trying to sell you for profit...or what they see in military manuals created without the idea of self healing........full flexibility....full range of motion...for the days when you will one day...be a veteran looking back on the young man who thought he was a unbreakable iron galvanized machine...but the reality is that iron galvanized machine could be made even more amazing by introducing more lubricant..more range of motion...more flexibilty...making it an even more amazing warrior machine...

It's an absurd notion, PO3 Aaron Hassay. I'm assuming you meant it as a joke.

PO3 Aaron Hassay I don't think it should be part of SFAS or the Q course but last time I was in Afghanistan I did yoga once a week and there were always two or three operators in the class. A lot of them know that yoga is a powerful exercise both mentally and physically.

CSM (Join to see) - Thanks for your Service bud. I salute you.
I will say this. I am glad you guys are finding this now. Crap when I served I never even heard of PTSD. PTS What I might say back in the day. Today, 2016, I really do believe this yoga, inversion(hanging upside down anti-gravity joint decompression) flexibility, stretching, self calming, regrouping, meditative stuff is the new unexplored area that will make the warrior of today, in every arena of combat, and tomorrow more complete, able to melt stress away, able not to react to stress in stunned way, able to see things as you slow them down in your mind, able to think more complex when dealing with stress, more centered, and able to survive more, and survive longer. I just found it after beating myself up for most my adult life staring 18 enlisting, and I have recently been able to avoid back surgery, that seemed unavoidable, and that is just the start of it. Every warrior needs self therapy, on a daily basis. It is as if there should be a new term for it. Warrior Yoga might bridge the gap in the mind between what a man thinks a man does and what a wise man does that is best.

PO3 Aaron Hassay - Too much of Yoga smacks of religion which today is practiced as part of the "new age". I cannot say that I recommend it especially in a kinetic environment. Navel gazing + advanced urban combat = KIA.

PO3 Aaron Hassay - This has approached the ridiculous far too closely. Are you actually advocating exercises for sexual prowess in a high risk environment?
