Hell no, I blew both my knees out in BCT running at night stepped in a pothole. Sucked it up because I didn't want to get recycled. Spent 10 more years serving my country. In that time, jacked my shoulder up and fortunately or unfortunately (depends on how you look at it) I was never deployed. No anyone who raised their right hand to protect against foreign and domestic threats should never feel bad about getting disability.

Totally agree, if you get hurt on the job you deserve compensation.

So suppose after 19 yrs, 5 months of injury free active service some young fool of a PFC hits you in the Motor Pool area while you're doing some maintenance. Blows both of your knees and an ankle out. You're released from the Drs care and the military with 19y11m service. Yep, you should be kicked out of the service without getting a penny. No, SFC Reid also because 75% of the military is non-combatant and the other 25% couldn't do it without them. Without all those behind the lines doing their jobs the men and women on the front lines wouldn't eat, drive, shoot, get dressed, get paid, get mail, get promoted, spare parts or new toys to play with. JMHO after almost 28 yrs svc and ending up 80% disabled.

Absolutely not, especially in view of the Campl LeJuene and all the areas affected by Agent Orange. Likewise with those injured in stateside and other areas. I think the VA tries - sometimes too hard or with individual raters' bias, to weed out fakers which sometimes has a negative impact on legitimate claims.

god no!

the us military is responsible: you enlist, you serve, and any injury your receive deserves all the compensation you can get. or you were drafted. anyone doing air conditioning, or house painting or filing paper who gets injured OTJ deserves compensation. it does not matter what job it is you do. and anyone who is injured by watching a movie, or riding in their car, or eating a macdonalds apple pie because of recklessness deserves all the compensation they can get. companies injure people right and left and tort laws are now so restricted you spend a million dollars in legal fees to get enough money to buy band aids maybe.

anyone on va disability has lived through more than enough humiliation and accusation and va lies already. any veteran who gets through the adjudicate to deny va deserves a medal for bravery. the idea that your military service is not worth respect is insuilting. I don't care if all you did was clean tables or empty trash baskets. Serving your country is an honor: it deserves all the respect you can get.

i WAS FORTUNATE, WHEN i RETIRED BECAUSE THE ARMY AND VA WERE INVOLVED IN A PILOT PROGRAM WHERE THE VA TOOK WHAT THE ARMY SAID. HOWEVER, I DID MAKE A CONSCIOUS DECISION THAT ALTHOUGH ELIGIBLE TO INCREASE THE DISABILITY RATING, I WOULD NOT APPLY UNTIL THERE WERE NO SOLDIERS IN LINE FROM GWOT AND WHEN CONCURRENT RECEIPT IS FOR EVERYONE. IT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GETTING OLD AND WORSE FROM GETTING HURT ON DUTY.

Long Story, But Just To Make It Short.... I Was Honorably Discharged In June Of 1965.
My Very First Appointment With The VA Doctors Was Around 1998..
At That Point I Was TOTALLY Misdiagnosed...
And Of Course, Prescribed The Entirely WRONG Medications, Driving Me Into SEVERE Mental Illness...
I Was Suicidal, Was In And Out Of The ER & Hospital; For OVER 9 Years....
Damned Doctors, Of Which Were Several, Rotated In And Out, REFUSING My Request For A Re-Diagnosis
...... FINALLY, One More Rotated In; Dr. Gray.
He Talked To Me For LESS Than 5 Minutes And Said:
"Who In "L" Told You You're Bi-Polar.? You're NOT"!!
Took Me Off The Medication...I Was "Cured" In Less Than 2 Weeks..
The MEDICATION Was Which Was The Problem, Due TO The Misdiagnosis
By The Very FIRST DOCTOR

Along With THAT Beauty: I Was Eventually (A Little At A Time) Sick As All Hell..
My Primary Said "I Can't Find Anything Wrong With You"...
And Refused My Requests For Physical Exams Because HE Couldn't Find Any Problem
Results?... EMERGENCY Surgery For A Critical Liver Infection & a MONTH In The Hospital, Followed By Daily Visits From An RN For Injections Of More Antibiotics....
NONE Military Connected;
But As I'm I'm Sitting Here, With Difficulty Breathing, On Oxygen, With Nephropathy To Both feet And Now, One Hand Too; In Continuous Pain. 24/7; And On As Much Pain Relievers As Allowed.
..And I'm Finally APPLYING For Disability...(Still Waiting To Hear Back)
SHOULD IT BE APPROVED?
And Believe Me, THIS IS "The Short Version"..... There Were Many Other Issues Along The Way As Well.
I'm Now On Medicare & South West Medical Of Las Vegas, Is Doing What They Can..
But Most Of The Issues Are Now Permanent. ......

EXACTLY the opposite, it shows that the military recognizes a service connected condition

It's the military equivalent of Workman's Compensation. Feel bad about having a disability but not being compensated for it.
