Please do not comment if you are still serving in the Military in some capacity; a/o where potentially your job, livelihood, or position could be at risk.

Shaming someone because of of inhumane practices committed by their ancestors seems counter productive to diversity. Inhumane practices are overwhelmingly present in human history and is present in every race, culture, heritage etc. we all live in glass houses.

Critical Race Theory, contrary to popular political hoopla is a field of academic research and discussion. As such is should exist in service academies to the extent it is otherwise relevant to the field of study. In other words, it's relevant to sociology, but not engineering.

CRT would be considered an "advanced concept." This means that students need to have advanced comprehension of concepts relating to society and social conflicts. Advanced comprehension is achieved only by considerable amounts of prerequisites. In short, this would be no beginner course; the student has to have an advanced understanding of the concepts involved. This is NOT to approve CRT, but it is simply to understand it principles.

A similar think is done in science. There are concepts known as "spontaneous life," phlogiston, the Humors, and other concepts that existed prior to current understanding. The idea is NOT to approve of them, but to understand them and how they originated, and how they compare and contract with CORRECT scientific principles and phenomenon.

CRT examines the race in relation to laws in the US. It’s aim is to challenge conventional approaches to racial justice. I think very little applies to what most people think about when they think about CRT.

I think the guiding principle behind CRT, intersectionality, is deeply important to understanding race relations in the US. While we would like to say we are post racism the entire system that was built during Jim Crow and segregation is still in place. We should be learning about how and why things are the way they are, and how they may or may not be implicitly racist in their intent.

This is especially important when working with Soldiers, as taking one action over another might be enforcing racist policy on Soldiers.

When I was a Company Grade Officer (CGO) and just reported to Vandenberg Air Force Base (now a Space Force Base), I had to attend an EEO briefing. The EEO NCOIC said to me that there were a number of things about him that he had control over (i.e., they way he wore his uniform, the language that he used, his job performance, etc.) and a number of things that he had NO control over (i.e. his eye color, where his parents were born, his genome, etc.). He said that we could judge him on things he can control, but we should not judge him on things he cannot control.

That was a wise man.

CRT does not teach this.

Let me get this straight. Teach everyone a theory as if it was 100% fact?
No i don't think so. We are the Military we deal with facts every day we make decision on facts. Not Theory.
Theory is a contemplative and rational type of abstract or generalizing thinking, or the results of such thinking. Depending on the context, the results might for example include generalized explanations of how nature works. The word has its roots in ancient Greek, but in modern use it has taken on several different related meanings.
If you were brought up on Charges lets say Non Judicial would you want Theory used as tangible evidence/fact or would you want to be Judged by a theory? "Well if i send the Soldier off on his own he will just goof off." YOU DON'T know that! you are dealing with people where no two are exactly alike you CAN NOT generalize when it comes to Soldiers. Good Soldiers will do the best with what they got to accomplish the Mission. Will some Ignore the Mission if unsupervised? Most likely yes, however no one can predict that if they are well managed and trained they well complete the Mission first and for most. On the other hand with out supervision they may goof off after the Mission until some one gives them more instructions. CRT in its Title is just a Theory, "if you piss into the wind it will get on you shoes" In Theory this i true unless you have a high wind then it gets on your trousers. JMTC
