"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

The simple answer is "no." If they want their participation trophy then they need to actually participate in combat to earn them.

HELL NO!!! They can and probably will get their own. It would insult the sacrifice of those troops wearing them

Or you could stop pretending that a "patch" means something. Girl Scouts have patches.

Why is this still being talked about? Whoever runs this site should take down this ridiculous topic? You earned it, you wear it, MOVE ON!

I didn't earn my second one until I was SFC in 2006, my third in 2010. During the time between the first and second one I was told by a few NCO's I needed to take it off, only to have our CSM to tell me in front of them not too

As a veteran who never saw combat, I would say to those intimidated SM's, "Suck it up Buttercup!" Seriously? When I served, I saw a number of combat veterans. Did I get intimidated? No. I gravitated towards them so I could perhaps learn what it takes to survive in combat.

When you get a big fat shot in your ass and have to run for cover from mortar and rifle fire, you can have a patch. Too many seek what they do not have, only to find, when they get it, they no longer wish for it.

I've had my fill of politically correct cupcakes and snowflakes. The world is what it is, and, as the saying goes, "Give me the strength to change the things I can; the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference."

I say WEAR the patches you earned-and for those who just got there-work for it. Only one I had was 11th Brigade ADA-and some had 2 or more they could wear. If you want attention-go to work for someone else-IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE ENLIST like we did and defend our nation

If we continue to worry about crybabies and hurt feelings, may just want to change the name from something that PROUDLY SIGNIFIES an HONORABLE, RESPECTED FIGHTING FORCE as is the U.S. ARMY, to something more suitable, more TOUCHY-FEELY like the LIBERAL Activities Group.
Maybe they should just GIVE IT to EVERYONE, earned or not, because removing it DUE TO WHINEY-Azz, TOUCHY-FEELY CRYBABIES amounts to essentially the same thing......something ELSE that those WHO HAVE BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT can't be PROUD to HAVE EARNED and DISPLAY it PROUDLY!!
