Standing for the National Anthem
Recently I was at a high school sports event where I observed only 1 person in the entire gym sitting during the playing of the National Anthem. This infuriated me. Everyone stood during the National Anthem, why not him? He wasn't sick or handicap. He was just ignorant. It infuriates me to no end. I understand people have the right not to stand but at least pay respects to the men and women who serve. Does this make you mad?

It definitely makes me angry but, I just remember that is the reason I (we) do what we do. To protect Americans rights, even if they are asshats.

Those kind of things irritate me, but not nearly as much as seeing a service member "duck retreat". I absolutely hate seeing members hear the first note of music, and dash toward the nearest building...

Sir, you never waited for retreat to end before leaving the building? You never looked at your phone and gave it a few minutes knowing Retreat was playing? Never once did that?

SrA Carbonaro, I don't think Capt Mueller is talking about waiting for Retreat to complete before exiting a building. What I believe what he is saying is when a service member runs into a building for the sole purpose of avoiding Retreat.

People who have to duck for retreat are not worthy of promotion for they are poor planners. Retreat is at the same time every day. If you can't
bring yourself to show respect then plan ahead and stay indoors.
