With the recent amount of stolen valor it is hard to keep up with all the different threads being posted here on RallyPoint. From this point forward if you have a stolen valor question, comment, and or post, then add it here. The posts that currently exist will stay, as we don't want to lose the already existing discussion content. If you have started a stolen valor post prior to this and wish to have it merged to this one then feel free to let me know and I will merge that for you. The initial post will be gone but the discussion content will be merged to this posting.

As far as stolen valor goes, he's not quite as extreme as some and may have actually used 670-1 for some of his ensemble. The toothpick? No go. The sunglasses on his head? No Go. His fruit salad looks a little mixed, and I'm wondering why a CSM has his marksmanship badge looking like an 80s earring.

I also have trouble believing that a CSM would allow himself to be seen in public without a PT belt... ;)

so what exactly is being done with these people. is it more about just exposing them or is there any action actually taken. when i was separated i ran into a ton of fakes. i ask now because there is a guy here in my home town running around with pics he took of google. he has a delayed entry badge that he uses to tell people he is in the service. he wears uniforms that dont make any sence at all and he tells people he is a navy seal and an army diver. he also claims that he is special forces and that he only gets called to duty on the weekends or sometimes deploys for only three days. I cant stand the guy and i call him out every time i see him trying to pick up some girl or trying to get a military discount somewhere.

Actually he can be prosecuted if he is getting anything of value, including military discounts.

I personally don't feel that they should receive any jail time. I think that instead of punishing them, we should actually let them EARN the medals they feel they've earned! Give them a ONE way ticket straight to the front lines

They wouldn't have the mental powers to stay alive long - let alone the ability to keep others backs safe - better off just putting them on a firing range for 'live' fire exercise - using them as the moving target.

The problem with putting these assholes in combat is they would get some soldier killed or wounded by their lack of knowledge and probably balls. Jail works for me.

Well I will give him an A for effort. He did a pretty good job of guessing where to put things for someone that has no military experience. There are some guys in my unit who look worse than this before we correct them. lol I wonder what goes through these peoples heads that make them do this. I read the article about this guy and about the stories he was telling to the family of a fallen soldier and it is pathetic. I wish we could take these people and air drop them into Syria to let them show us their warfighting skills in action.

SSG James Palmer IV,

To me, he looks a little young for 30 years of service. I haven't looked lately, but I didn't think we sewed tabs on ASUs, so he should have the metal Ranger Tab on his pocket flap. Since I am retired I wont be looking up, unless I have to wear my ASUs.

Thank you,

SFC Joseph M. Finck USA (Ret)

I'm sorry, but if you look a bit closer at his hash marks on his right sleeve, there is an additional 21 years of service. They look to be the female version of service slashes, not the combat hash that should be there.
