With the recent amount of stolen valor it is hard to keep up with all the different threads being posted here on RallyPoint. From this point forward if you have a stolen valor question, comment, and or post, then add it here. The posts that currently exist will stay, as we don't want to lose the already existing discussion content. If you have started a stolen valor post prior to this and wish to have it merged to this one then feel free to let me know and I will merge that for you. The initial post will be gone but the discussion content will be merged to this posting.

30 years of hash marks kinda tipped me off, Jump wings below ribbons, the list goes on, cant the fake dip sticks go online and find the proper way to outfit the uniform if they are going to try and pull a scam.

You'd think they would, it's not that hard, either. Five minutes of research plus not trying to be warp speed Space Shuttle door gunners. If they'd claim cook or admin, who'd notice? Nope, these guys (and women, there have been a few) go for spec ops.

I prefer to handle the issue delicately. The challenge with stolen valor today is that the person who impersonates one of us, might come back and try to hurt one of us to get even for being 'called out'. As MSgt Allan Folsom pointed out, it is better to approach people in private rather than call them out in public for stolen valor.

Allan, it's like the Special Forces guys say, "Silent Professionals." We are well equipped to deal with these issues out of the glaring lights of the general public. Unfortunately, not everyone understands that handling matters like this requires a delicate touch.

PO3 Holbrook.....thank you for having a sharp eye for inconsistency with wearing of the uniform, unfortunately this is a growing problem impersonating a service member or veteran. If I had the authority it would be a fine for anyone who isn't a service member, dependent, retiree, or veteran. Some people make a mockery of our U.S. Armed Forces, by misrepresent the uniform, by lying to reap the benefits we all rightly deserve who paid the price by serving. Thank you for serving and representing us well, but be careful approaching "boneheads" like that individual many out there brains isn't wrap too tight.

ive had my fair share of inspections. ive seen a male wear female pants. ive seen jummp boots with a black beret. ive screwed up a few inspections myself. i dont know if this guy is fake or not. i dont harp over stuff like this. he isnt stealing my honor. i actually liek seeing these posts. i like the thought process they put into putting these uniforms together. and what is worse than them faking valor, sometimes their uniforms are more well put together than some people in the military. lol. so i say, toast this CSM. if i judged people by badges, well,,, he'd by my effn hero!!!

Well it's been 14 yrs. But the order of his ribbons is not correct and no Infantry discs. Been a long time since I've seen a AR670-1 maybe these fakes should find one? 11B "Follow Me"

I see an unauthorized pin on his lapel. A CSM would not have a toothpick in his mouth or sunglasses on his forehead. The uniform doesnt look like it fits him. His awards actually look like they are in the correct location and order. His unit awards are a little bit crooked, but that could be just due to his uniform not fitting right. This guy seems like he is the right age to have that many years of service. I mean, I am just a SSG, but if it wasnt for that button on his lapel and the toothpick and sunglasses, I probably wouldnt be able to tell. This guy did his homework. I'm angered and impressed at the same time.
