The other day my wife working as a civilian contractor had gone to VI Office on post for a visit with employees with her boss when one of the employees showed them a DA photo of a soldier who is transitioning from male to female. Soldier was wearing make-up but was still in the male uniform. His name had been legally changed and his re-assignment was not complete should she have worn the female uniform?

It's happening whether one likes it or not and it won't stop there.
The National Anthem will soon officially be replaced with "I've Got to Be Me." at a date and time to be determined.

MAJ Robert (Bob) Petrarca, sir, that gives a whole new meaning to "dating oneself", doesn't it?

We used to be a force to be reckoned with. Now we don't even know the sex of the person serving beside us. To answer your question, hell no. He should be out-processed for wasting valuable time and energy of training to fight and defend. Who is paying for the change, Tricare, ACA? Why should my tax dollars be used for this if this is the case? Is this person making the change on government time or personal time? It better not be government time. There is enough waste and abuse of tax dollars the way it is. Now back to this transgender crap. Many will argue that it shouldn't matter, I say it does. Put a person who used to be a male in a shower full of women or a person who used to be a woman in a shower full of men, and let those instincts they were born with kick in. That could be the crime of voyeurism or perversion if you think about it. You can have all the plastic surgery and hormone treatments you want. You are still whatever God intended you to be. If we are so big on accepting transgender personnel, then why don't we save the military and the taxpayers a whole bunch of money and just make the military one big commune where there are no separate restrooms or bunk areas? God help us. We are a sick society.

I can't even say agree to disagree, I just flat out disagree & refuse to think that your stance on this issue is in any way beneficial. It doesn't matter who is next to you in battle as long as they have your back. Wake up, it's the 21st century. You say their instincts that they were born in will kick in, have you ever thought about WHY these people are transgender? It's because their instincts didn't match the "tools" they were born with.

Typical standard liberal response to an opinion by referencing my "insecurities and intentions." You know nothing about me yet you attack me. You have no idea if I have a friend who decided to take their own life over the confusion of what gender they thought they should be, joining the ranks of the average 50% of transgenders that do commit suicide. Just maybe, possibly Before you and others like you openly attack somebody you best have your ducks in a row. Watching someone commit gender suicide is painful. I can express my opinion any time just as you can, but i don't go around attacking you because of your belief system. If you want to be LGBT go for it. Just don't force me to agree with it.

There's a plethora of these topics already. I'd merge but I'm on mobile. this 'problem' is easily solved by true equality and uniformity, in pt standards, in performance, uniform and grooming standards.

Capt Richard I P. I think that idea will solve a lot of problems I would love to see one standard for everyone.

There are millions of Americans that ate sitting on their lazy asses at home but you choose to make fun and dehumaniz you brothers and sisters just because you don't like the way they live. They will gladly take a bullet for you because they are your sisters and brothers. That is one reason the military has gone down hill because they spend too much time hating on their siblings Rather loving and caring for them.

Actually I did not make fun of anyone! If you read it carefully I had no negative connotation towards any transgender. Do not read into this. I was asking this question to see what other vets felt about it because the civilians that worked in that office were judging the soldier! Do not come at me sideways when you do lot know my true feelings about the situation! What if I was that soldier? Did you think about that? No you didn't! I applaud the soldiers for being true to themselves and hope they get the equality that I did not see when don't ask don't tell was introduced! We are all soldiers and I would do whatever it took for them just as you said they would gladly do for me! Don't armchair quarterback this when you do not know me and when my post was not deragotory!

That was not suppose to be directed at you. I am sorry it seemed that way. It is just that this is a sensitive subject for me and I hate when people start bad mouthing it. My comment was meant to be directed at some of the comments and not to strick down your original question. I am very sorry

Clearly he was asking a question about what uniform the soldier should have been in I case he needs to make an on the spot correction in the future

I don't mind people having different opinions. I do mind when the opinions of one group help causes the suffering of another group

I find it odd that everyone's complaining & questioning who's paying for these medical expenses and when are they going to these appointments, is it really anyone's business? I don't know all of what Tricare covers on something like this but if they cover if, good for them! These transgender soldiers go to work every day just like you & I, they deserve the same benefits everyone else does. Do you go to your appointments during the work day (I'm sure you do), do you hear anyone else bitching because you went to go have your teeth cleaned during duty hours? No, then why complain about their appointments, they're entitled to the same privileges.

If you look at the link I posted, on page 9 it states that Tricare doesn't cover any of the transgender reassignments or procedures going along with the process. This individuals are paying for the expenses on their own without help from Tricare.

I read an interesting aricle recently. Talked about why Johns Hopkins stopped performing the surgery. This article was published in. Religious magazine, but was written from a clinical perspective. It basically stated that the problems faced by a pre-op person did not go away after the surgery. If anything they got worse.

I see your point , but disagree with the judgment portion. While I don't think we should treat these folks badly, but at what point does personal responsibility take over? Where does it say in scripture that people have to abandon their values to accomodate someone else's? Seems to me that when a person chooses a particlar lifestyle, they have to live with the fact that they can't participate in certain areas of mainstream life.
While Christ hung out with sinners of all kinds, he treated them with respect and spread the good news of salvation. He also never shied away from the wages of sin and the ultimate damnation to those who refuse to acknowledge salvation.

Or ANY uniform?
It is difficult for me to come to terms with all of this. It seems to me that serving in the military is a privilege, not a right. We serve(d) to fulfill the needs of the military, not our own personal needs.
Just what legitimate military need calls for having soldiers with mental issues?

They don't have mental issues. Soldiers coming back from war have mental issues, it's called PTSD. Are you saying the Army doesn't have room for them?

SrA (Join to see), people confused as to their gender have mental issues.

I'm not going to argue with you. I don't personally know anyone who is transgender but I have read & watched many stories on transgender and I also have gay friends. These individuals are not confused nor are they mentally ill or seeking attention. That's an ignorant thing to say.

SrA (Join to see), until Dec. 2012 the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders listed transgender and gender non-conforming as mental disorders. It is no longer PC to recognize this and the manual has been changed to remove these as mental disorders.
Nothing about the condition has changed - just the decision not to list them as disorders, presumably to comply with the current leftist political ideology in vogue for the moment.
Two opposing views on the subject:

Is this the hot topic for RP? Has Bruce Jenner made this so cool. there are two genders. And I don't care how so Bozo on Goole says that ther are more than fifty. If a man wants to mutalate himself and have his penis removed he is not brave or courageous. the military is not a place for social experiments. And you cannot change your DNA. And you can not do it from hormone shots, some plastic surgery or two snips to the penis. You know this should not even be an issue.
