All, if you are married, do you wear your wedding ring in uniform? If you do, what kind and what are your thoughts on why you chose that type.

Yes, I wear one in uniform but when doing certain tasks I tape it.

No. I left it off so there would be no mistakes on my part. My first unit out of bootcamp in the Coast Guard was the CGC Elderberry (the original!), a 65' buoy tender. I also did 3 tours at an "Aids to Navigation" (ANT) Team and 1 tour on a 180' CG Buoy Tender. While working buoys, chains and sinkers, climbing structures, etc.; wearing your wedding ring was asking to lose a finger as quickly as you wanted to. I wouldn't wear gloves in the winter when doing so, as they would continually get pinched in the chain. My wife understood my concerns as well, and it was not an issue for her.

I have a Tungsten Carbide ring that I wear. I never take my ring off unless I am working on machinery.

In uniform, yes. Doing job...no. I'm very interested in the tattoo idea though.

I have a stainless steel, when I was an active flyer I never wore it while on the flight line. But in the office always.

Absolutely. From the day I was married, to the day I retired, and still, coming up on 31 years in May...

When I was in I always wore my ring when possible. As a surgical technician I had to take it off when working in surgery. When my first wife passed away I wore it for a little while then took it off. When I remarried a couple of years later I started wearing a ring again when not restricted by my duties. My son has a tattooed ring that I think is totally cool because his duties preclude him from wearing a ring many times.

I actually have two rings: a "work" ring, made of tungsten, and my original ceremony wedding ring. I wear the wedding wing on outings and weekends, or away from work, and work ring throughtout the week, unless Im training or working machinery. the former 91 series guy in me remembers his safety briefs well.

I would wear mine (simple metal band) in garrison, I would wear it on my watch band when in the field, and my wife would wear it on a chain when I was deployed.

I had looked at getting it tattooed but found people had mixed results, for some it turned out fine but for many the tattoo faded or the ink "bleed" out
